What are they saying about Helen Lewis?

Maybe OP was after paid subscribers?

The episode is now freely accessible - regular episodes are just released to subscribers a bit earlier.

I listened to this the other day and found it both hugely entertaining and informative. It’s Katie Herzog interviewing Helen Lewis on her “Blocked & Reported” podcast. Two very smart and wryly funny women. It was one of the best explanations of the Tavistock and Alison Bailey situations that I’ve come across so far. I highly recommend it.

@GoodWeatherforDucks , yes, I loved it and especially laughed on the section about Jordan Peterson. 😁

@AgnestaVipers

Jordan Peters is indeed a strange kettle of fish. But there’s something for everyone in his eclectic bunch of beliefs, at least!

I think any treatment that is not offered by a North American physician surely has to be beyond nuts (I mean, Boston Children’s Hospital currently has a very fresh-faced young woman cheerfully advertising an elective hysterectomy as “gender-affirming healthcare”), so surely he subjected himself to extreme quackery in Russia, signing up to be put into a medically induced coma for 8 days to break his addiction to uppers?

I do think his exhortation to young men to tidy their bedrooms and do some physical exercise was pretty sound, though.

I thought this episode benefitted from Jesse being away on holiday. It was a breath of fresh air to hear two sensible, forthright women work so methodically through the issues.

Yeah, Jesse is ok but Katie is better and has an irresistible giggle.

much as I like Jesse, I think that his male privilege gets in the way sometimes. He can be a little to happy to throw women’s rights under the bus.

I find him frustrating but am very fond of him. 😀 I really rate Katie, even though I don’t agree with her on everything.

the episode with Helen Lewis was great. I remember her being a little wishy washy on trans stuff in the past, understandably so. But she has come out swinging now.

an excellent listen.

Jesse gets really mealy mouthed on the trans thing - even the extreme violence some TRAs spout. I find that unacceptable. I like to think Kate would be pleased to spend some time on what she calls "Terf Island". I'd be happy to show her around.

I thought this was a good listen (I do like BARpod generally) but honestly they both (plus Jesse) owe a big apology to Graham Linehan. They repeatedly paint him as an insane frothing at the mouth lunatic. Neither of them mentioned him by name in this interview, but they still threw plenty of shade at him.

I definitely think Katie has got more radical over the years and Jesse must really annoy her at times. But she is still seeking that moderate, liberal opinion that allows her to say TWAW and TWANW at the same time. Also they both seem to have too much of a soft spot for paedophiles.
