Plaid Cymry candidate faces disciplinary for stating "no women have penises"

And for our Welsh viewers:

penarthnews.wordpress.com/2018/08/26/penarth-plaid-candidate-who-dared-offend-trans-activists-faces-disciplinary-action/

The Welsh Nationalist Party Plaid Cymru is to call one of its Penarth council candidates Anne Greagsby before a party disciplinary panel for allegedly having “offended” transgendered people.

Ms Greagsby – who stood as a candidate for Plaid Cymru in last year’s Vale of Glamorgan Council and in the Penarth Town Council elections – is to appear before what’s being termed as a Plaid Cymru “tribunal” on September 1st.

Ms Greagsby is alleged to have committed the cardinal sin of stating on social media that people with penises are not women – a remark which has apparently outraged the ever-more-politically-correct Welsh Nationalist Party.

Ms Greagsby is claimed to have said that “No woman has a penis”, that “No female has a penis” and that “Trans women are men” – biological observations which, a few years ago, would have been regarded as stating the obvious – but which are now anathema to so-called “progressive” political parties.

Ms Greagsby has also challenged the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s so-called “Transgender Inclusion Schools Toolkit” – a left-over project inherited from the previous Labour administration which was published in April.

Is it just me or is there a distinct tone of sarcasm in there? Grin

I don't know anything about this candidate beyond the article, just thought it was pertinent to see another small party acting like the Greens...

I am a natural Plaid voter but after this and especially Leanne Wood's statements on this topic I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. This will be a big vote loser in Plaid's heartlands and seeing that Leanne hasn't managed to steal votes from Labour in the South East I'm not sure who will be left to vote for Plaid...

I wish you luck but the Plaid in my area are very anti what they consider as unnatural practices.

Good luck Pina. Star

I think your visit to a Plaid MP is crucial. Small parties can't afford to lose the confidence of their constituents. They also appreciate 'ammunition' to have a go at the barmy positions taken by the major parties - and set themselves apart.

The Plaid MPs need to get Leanne to sing from a different hymn sheet.

I wonder what punishment was meted out to Anne Greagsby by Plaid's WitchFinders, though? Hmm

SomeDyke - I thought the male riders of the blues and greens just boffed the women from “the caves” (below stairs/village equivalent). The homoerotic subtext appears to have passed me by altogether. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks, everyone, much appreciated. MrPina is coming with me for moral support and because he's just as concerned as I am. He'll be self-IDing as a woman to make the point further. He has lovely sideburns and we consider those will be expanding the bandwidth of womanhood nicely Grin. We're going next week, so I'll be prepping the key points beforehand so I can make the most of our (short) time.

TRAs and their woke advocates have a canny knack of drawing attention to perceived issues.

All they do is encourage more sane GC people out, visiting MPs and handing out flyers in the community.

Penarth has been discussed before, right? Parents challenged the toolkit that schools have been given?

I hope Ms Greagsby’s hearing went well (I am imagining her turning up in a t shirt with a big pink penis printed on it),

Thanks, mimivanne. Will report back in due course. I'm v nervous but I can't sit on the fence any more.

It'll be interesting to see what happened at the 'tribunal' on 1 Sept and whether they burned the witch sanctions were applied to Anne Greagsby or not.

"Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels were very clear on this. There are definitely male and female dragons, though the female ones are biggest and best (golden)."
Although, as I recall, the blue?/green? dragons were female, and only ridden by males, hence during mating flights, the male riders indulged in homosexual encounters (dragon with dragon, and riders paired too).
Hence whilst structured to allow to some extent for male homosexuality/bisexuality, lesbians were not included at all. Plus very much a highly gendered structure (in that I assume the male riders of female dragons were supposed to be the passive sexual partner, with other male rider of male dragon the 'active' one.)

Dragon rider not exactly an equal-opportunity employer to be honest. No dykes on dragons that I can recall Smile

I thought I'd bump this because I've just made an appointment to see my Plaid MP about self-ID to discuss my concerns. At the moment, they've lost 2 votes in this household too, but given what's been going on with the Greens recently, plus the PC leadership contest, I thought it might be a good time to see how the land lies.

The woman in the constituency office didn't know what self-ID was, which makes me think it could be quite an interesting conversation. I would very much like to vote for him again, as he's a great constituency MP, but not unless I'm suitably reassured on this one.

To be fair, at present it can hardly be much of a vote loser. There's nowhere to turn, when basically all the parties are going on about how in favour of it they are. Except UKIP, I guess, but that's hardly a party that's going to do any good for women, even excluding all other reasons not to support them.

mythology is somewhat vague on whether there are male dragons and female dragons, or if they are all hermaphrodites or similar

The journo isn't trying very hide to hard how stupid they think the whole thing is, are they?

I'm fascinated by the disconnect between what the general public thinks about this issue (that the idea that some women have penises is barmy) and what the political class seems to think the public thinks. Were they given false polling information? How have they become convinced that this is a vote-winner?

This is the same blog that a while back reported on parents' anger at the new rules being pushed onto schools in Glamorgan, but the council were pushing through them through anyway, despite parents saying it would stop their children doing PE. I don't remember it being such a sarky tone then, but perhaps like the rest of us the writer has just had enough.

This is one of those times when I wish community stations covered local politics and things like disciplinary committees. It's highly likely the Good Citizens of Penarth wouldn't believe their ears and be left wondering if they were being denied the punchline.

"for allegedly having “offended” transgendered people"

Who else can claim this kind of power over speech? If I say the sky is blue should I be kicked in case I've offended a colour blind person?
Parties who do shit like this a treading a really fine line before they're not able to say anything lest it "offend" someone.

How on earth are the same "progressive" people who probably scoffed at Americans teaching creationism become so indentured to the religion of TWAW
