How to get rid of my thick waist and belly fat

I’m fairly slim but waist has expanded so much and a belly too. I used to be size 10-12 now size 14/16 needed. I feel miserable every time I see a photo of myself. I look square and middle aged and only 40! I know it’s peri menopause but nothing seems to help. Even haven’t had a drink in three months but fat stomach still there ☹️

@justanotherneighinparadise

I actually know this! A large waist size is an indication of metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Solution is intermittent fasting and low carb eating.

Yes, a low carb high fat keto diet has resulted in all of the weight coming off my middle.

I was probably a bit insulin resistant. I called myself a pescatarian but i was lazy and forgot to eat fish so i was a grainatarian.

There is a lot of information about this on youtube OP.

I have been walking every day since lockdown began and for the first time since I had my children over 20 years ago I have a waist. And I wasn't overweight for all that time.

Mine is inner thighs. I loose weight from my belly first. I wish I could spot loose from there!

Cutting out sugar really helps with belly fat

This is exactly what MIcheal Moseleys Fast 800 is excellent for! Google it - I think it’s exactly what you need!

You can't spot reduce fat. You can tone the muscles but to lose the excess you just have to lose weight overall. Your body decides where it loses from and when. I'm a size 8, down from a 20 at my heaviest and the belly and thighs are hanging on for grim death 🙄

look up dr eric berg + belly fat on youtube. You'll have your eyes opened if you think that calories in calories out is your starting point. exercise has many benefits but weight loss isn't its primary benefit.

The only way to lose fat (anywhere) is to consumer fewer calories than you expend. There are myriad different ways to do this - it's about finding something that works for you longterm. Some people low-carb, some 5-2, some run gazillions of miles a week. I count macros (a slightly more 'sophisticated' version of calorie counting). It's worked for me and I'm the lightest I've been in my adult life (I'm 44). But it's not for everyone (you need to weigh/ measure a lot).
