6 months to DH’s beach family reunion

Due to attention a family reunion on my husbands side abroad in the summer - think beach parties and poolside bikini wearing. They are all very appearance obsessed, have had a lot of cosmetic surgery and comment freely about your weight gain and looks - there is a cultural aspect to this but generally more of a straight talking, direct approach as a family. The last time I saw them I was a size 8.

I stepped on the scales this morning after two years and was shocked to see I weighed two more stone than I thought I did.

I’ve worked out I need to lose at least 2 pounds (If not more) a week from now on to get to my goal of 9stone. Does anyone want to join me in what I think is going to be a radical overhaul. Add to this I’m in my 40’s and already run 5 or 10K three times a week so obviously need to step up. Does anyone want to join me in a radical lifestyle

Can I join in please? Weighed 14st 9lbs this morning, I want to get to 11st 11lbs (I'm 5ft 8). Think I'm going to try to stop snacking first as I snack a lot! I have 3DC age 5 and under and one is going through a phase of not sleeping which is making me want more snacks because I'm tired.

Ditch the sugar - it's life changing. You are confusing sugar addiction with hunger. You think you're hungry when really you're just feeding the addiction. Once you ditch sugar your appetite will stabilise and reduce and you won't experience the wild fluctuations in your blood sugar which cause you to crave more sugar. To get you through cold turkey, snack on raspberries - they take the edge off it but don't leave you craving more. And you might need a few painkillers as going cold turkey on sugar gives you a banging headache but it's worth it when you come out the other side.

Thanks Bluntness - have always been terrible at maths!!! When I get the kids in from school I usually eat a few packs of Raisin or choc chip oat biscuits then once I‘be fed them I will eat a bit of their leftovers. Then dinner At 8 will usually be big as by that point I’m starving! I’ve just had a hard boiled egg for a snack and will try and go through to dinner which will peppers stuffed with mince and roasted aubergine crisps with some spinach on the side. The hardest thing will be to resist choc and hot choc in the evening. It’s because when the kids go to bed I want to relax - and I‘be associated relaxing with eating!

I had zero fat yogurt and fruit for breakfast, sushi for lunch. I've got some chicken katsu curry in the freezer for tea this evening, DH is out so I don't have to worry about feeding him. No run today, I meant to go out at lunchtime but I left my kit at home. Planned 10k run tomorrow which should allow me to have a nice Weatherspoons lunch afterwards without too much damage! I like chips, therefore I run...

I need to lose a stone by May so sort of on the same path! Big birthday coming up, decided I want to be the same weight I was at 40, just under 9 stone. I am active as in I walk dogs every day for about 3 miles and just taken on an allotment so digging for England! For me it’s a bit of naughty eating and drinking wine at the weekend! I do like a biscuit but have decided they have to go but no idea what to eat instead?! I’m trying the 5:2 so 5 days of eating nearly what you want (but no biscuits!) and then 2 days of around 600 calories. I started last week and lost 2 pounds but I had a Chinese takeaway this weekend and haven’t got on the scales this morning! A takeaway is very rare though so I’m trying not to feel too guilty.
So what will anyone else be snacking on? What will you definitely be cutting out?
What other adjustments will you make?
What feels like a treat but isn’t too naughty?
What does Noom promote, is it all low calorie eating such as salad? I’ve seen the adverts but not worked out what it is!

It’s less about exercise more about not taking the calories in in the first place

Op, to loose two stone in six months, you don't need to loose two pounds a week, it's half that. If you lost two pounds a week for six months you'd loose about three and a half stone.

Porridge for breakfast this morning - full day of work with only a fifteen minute break - how are you guys today?

For me it’s just crept on - it’s going to be a tough six months but I feel really determined.

I am with you on the bored and frustrated thing. I've just signed up for a trial of Noom, which is promising the earth, so we'll see how that works.

I already run a lot (did 30km yesterday) but I think some sort of weight training is going to be required 😬

Deffo up for losing 2 stone in 6 months.

For clarity, I'm currently 14st4lbs. 5'9" so it doesn't look totally hideous, but I'm definitely not comfortable with it...

My problem is I just eat because I’m a bit bored and frustrated - would exercise all the time if I could but family life gets in the way and just generally feeling knackered after work and kids!

I’m going to focus on regulating my blood sugar to help initially. The easiest stabiliser for breakfast is porridge as I don’t have a lot of time in the morning. Diet wise I eat a lot of veg but I think I’m going to try and cut as many carbs as I can and completely wipe out snacks - especially the chocolate biscuits which call to me every night!
I exercise fairly well but might see it I can fit two extra small sessions in. Hoping to see some lose this week - am currently 11stone.

I'm starting with foga protein shakes for breakfast tomorrow, an apple, a quorn ham sandwich with cherry tomatoes, cucumber and carrot sticks for lunch, then dinner of my husbands making, with hopefully at least 50% of my plate veg. I'm thinking if I try this plan until the end of Feb I should see some progress, but am also working a stupid number of hours so can't risk cutting back too much

JorisBonson · 09/02/2020 17:25

I'm going into week 4 of slim fast, 2 shakes a day during the week, fruit and 2 snacks and then dinner. Don't do it at weekends.

I don't weight myself but I'm down a belt notch, bum feels higher, hips feel slender-er, cheekbones are peeping back out.

Don't get hungry until I'm supposed to (lunchtime, dinner time) and it's only costing me £5 a week

Me! Although I’ve got a few more stone to lose than you. I also run lots and get cross I don’t lose weight (possibly it’s the 10 million hobnobs I eat afterwards) I’m starting tomorrow. What plan are you thinking of?

I'm up for a 6 month challenge to lose 2 stone, it's my birthday in August and I'd really like to be at goal weight of 9st7 rather than 11st9 that I weighed in at this morning! Have a fridge full of veg to help me, but have no time to go to the gym in the next couple of weeks. Aiming to get back to running 10km in the next few months as well
