Skin!

I have a lot of weight to lose and read some conflicting advice on loose skin. Some places say that it's caused by losing weight too quickly, others that it's from being a high weight for a long time. Which is it or is it both? How can I avoid it?

Also, anything that helps with stretch marks? Thanks

I lost six stones over the course of my mind to late 40s and don't have any loose skin. I guess it may depend on your skin's inherent elasticity.

I’ve lost weight lots of times and because Apple shaped its all around my middle.
I’ve never had no loose skin, but I’ve minimised it with exercise, ( 70% differenceto no exercise) particularly core stuff.
The worst it’s ever been was rapid weight loss with no exercise ( I always go for rapid as it keeps me motivated, so the exercise is the difference).
I also find that with exercise I look so much better that I don’t need to lose a much weight. If I just Diet I need to be really lean before I look better.

I am now addressing the underlying causes of my overeating to get off this merry go round.

Best of luck op.

It's unavoidable. I've lost almost 8 stone and to do that and not have some lose skin would be exceedingly rare.

Lose the weight first and worry about the skin later. Lose skin isn't dangerous, being obese is and you will feel like a new person when you lose it Wink
