I weigh myself daily. Did this as my weight fluctuates so much it was hard to keep track if I was loosing weekly. Much better for me and my mental health. Standing on the scales one week and it said I had put on five pounds was too much and much better now I can see it going down on a daily basis.

If you weigh daily. How much do you fluctuate. I register a five pound upwards at least three times a week. And always to the exact same amount. I weight 10 stone 9. And still three days this week I have weighed in at exactly 11 stone.

How much does yours do. My scales are correct as I have a weight that I check them with.

I am massively sensitive to salt so if I have a very salty meal I can put on 4-5 pounds (I am 5’10 for reference) and it can take a few days to settle down again.

But also, I think you need to take a step back and ask yourself... Can anyone (including yourself) even notice if you're a couple of pounds up or down on a given day? Without weighing yourself, what possible difference does it make to anyone?

My water in take is normal. And I weigh myself at 7am every day. With nothing on. Except my glasses or I can’t see the numbers 😂

I weigh daily too and certainly fluctuate up to 3 pounds with my maximum being 9st. A lot of this is water weight (I drink loads of water and exercise a lot) and depending on the time of the month, the scale will always show higher regardless (sucks being femaleGrin)
When I am on a losing trend though, the daily weighing can be very bad for me as I have lifelong eating issues and I can get a bit obssessed and have to reign myself in.
Please be careful OP and look after yourself

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 - What time of the day do you weigh yourself?

That's your normal especially with ibs, my normal would be a decimal of a lb up to 1lb, don't stress about it, you're tracking everything you can.

What's your water intake like?

Same a PP I use the app 'happy scale' so when my weight fluctuates I can see the graph still shows it's a downward tread. I can fluctuate by 1 kg some days.

The reason I weigh daily as I was so upset by seeing a gain of five pounds or four pounds on my weigh in day. I knew it was wrong. And I couldn’t get an accurate weight number. I never never go over my calorie amount. Ever. I’m so nearly at 10 stone I can see it!!! I wouldn’t do anything to mess that up. I’m extremely focused on this 😂

@thenewaveragebear1983. Not goady at all 😊. I count my calories. Every single last one of them. I never go over my allowance ever. I’m very focused on this. I can’t change what I eat as I am wheat free, dairy free , I have ibs and I have a bladder that reacts badly to 90% of foods out there. So the foods I can eat are what I can eat. I can’t change that. Not without a whole lot of pain and bleeding and awfulness. I also didn’t want to change it to much as I wanted to learn to eat properly. Not restrict myself if everything as that never works for me.

I know the weight will come off it always does. I just don’t understand how it can fluctuate over five pounds. And always be the same number. I just find it weird.

Monkeys do you think though that there is some correlation between eating the 'wrong' foods and daily weighing? By that I mean that in my own experience, when I know I'm eating badly I weigh myself to 'check' how much damage I've done. When I'm on plan, I know it, and I tend to weigh myself less frequently. For me, weighing daily, and especially weighing multiple times daily to see if the result has changed, is symptomatic of my eating being quite disordered. I'm not being goady btw, I genuinely understand your post. What would happen if you decided instead to weigh your food and track your calories (or whatever your chosen plan is) and hide your bathroom scales for a week? I'll do it with you if you like? Smile

I was weighing weekly. It was really bad for me.

  1. If I lost I would say oh great I can eat stuff as I have a week to get rid of it

  1. If I had not lost I would say ... sod it. And eat everything and have to week to get it off.

  1. I fluctuate so much that on my weigh in day I would sometimes seem like I had gained five poundsit was sending me into a really bad eating habit. And I wasn’t doing this just to loose weight. I wanted to re do my whole thinking on food.

I’m happier weighing daily. And can see the loss but just don’t understand why always 11.

I will fluctuate between around 10.1 and 10.6 if I weigh daily. It's usually caused by having more carbs/alcohol at the weekends. I can be 3 lbs lighter after a run that before it which proves it's just water really.

My actual weight is about 10.3, it's where I always end up and it's my average weekly weight, has been for months.

I used to weigh daily but honestly the fluctuations drove me crazy and made me a bit obsessed.
Weighing on a particular day a week, or even better, every two weeks gives a much better overall idea of your weight, especially if you're losing.

My other days go down. But no matter what I do. It always comes out at 11. I find that weird.

I can fluctuate a pound or two either side of the weekly average but the general trend is down by a pound or so a week which I’m happy with.

I'm losing at the moment so generally I'm the same as the previous day or down a bit. For a week or so before my period, it'll drop slower than usual but it never really goes up unless I eat carbs.

I fluctuate massively. I use the app happy scale as it shows me a general trend and that’s what I need as I battle the bulge!
