Any vegetarian FILLING dishes you could share?

I need to lose at least half a stone and I just can’t shift it. I’m short so to me it is a lot but hard to lose on an already reasonably low calorie intake needed....

I need some new lunch (quick and easy or can pre prepare) and dinner recipes/ideas but for me AND the dc so I’m not cooking two different evening meals.

I’m vegetarian but can’t eat wheat or white potatoes or a lot of dairy as they all upset my stomach. I do eat lentils but they too make me very bloated with a belly ache. Iv run out of nice meals that fit this bill. Can anyone help??

It's an old way of eating called the Hay Diet or Food Combining and my version is mixed with a book called Fit for Life. (who have copied Food Combining).

I think that with some people the coffee or tea (caffeine), like alcohol, hangs onto the water in our bodies, when we have it every day. As I said I do have it now sometimes and it speeds up my metabolism then!!

I cook whole organic rice very well (my mum used to underdo it) and that with curried or normal veg. is very filling.

Interesting.... is it a book/something you pay for?

Why would one coffee make you put on weight though?

I have one cup with one brown sugar (better than white but not good) but it’s instant coffee... sometimes I’ll have two after a bad night with dc!

I lost 3 stone and dress sizes with the smoothies and Paul Mackenna!! (I must admit that my jeans are a tighter after Xmas but mostly I just go by my clothes) I don't count calories or weigh food !!
I found that I lost weight after cutting out just ONE daily cup of ground coffee, (I still have one occassionally) and eating fruit on an empty stomach oh and NOT mixing protein and carbs at the same meal. I was looking at eating for health, not weight loss but it just dropped off!!

I use organic pure fruit juice and filtered water for my smoothies.

I used to have a smoothie that was filling for breakfast but a lot of people on here told me it would hinder weight loss. I had one banana, unsweetened almond milk, tablespoon of nut butter, tablespoon of chia seeds, tablespoon of flax seeds and 3 dates. Tried taking out the nut butter and dates but ended up quite thin and not filling...:

ppeat what liquid do you put in with the ground almonds? Will have a look at Paul McKenna. I can’t half a stone, been trying for a year!! But I’m on it this new year!

Also look at Paul Mackenna (I Can Make You Thin) to help with eating mindfully!!!

Loser Have you tried ground almond smoothies for breakfast? I make mine with ground linseeds too and 2 or 3 seasonal fresh and dried fruits, always with a lemon, they are very nutritious and FILLING!!! The held blender is your friend [grin[

Made a delish soup today, curried carrot and lentil:

180g lentils
4 carrots
3 celery sticks
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp chopped ginger (I used frozen)
2 tsp chopped chillies (again, frozen)
1 tsp Cayenne pepper
2 tsp Corriander
2 tsp Cumin
Salt
Tub of passage
Half tube of tomato puree
0.5 litre stock

Cook for 40 mins then blitz with stick blender until smooth. It's made 5 portions of 3 ladles each (so big, hearty portions). I've put portions in bowls, covered in clingfilm and frozen. Straight from freezer to microwave when needed.

Loser your best low carb bet is to join the next bootcamp

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/low_carb_bootcamp/3463101-when-s-the-next-bootcamp

Lots of much more knowlegeable people there than me! Might go for another round.

As a veggie, I ate lots of eggs, avocados, cheese,

Stir fries with those courgette noodles

A delicious dish (there are threads of recipes including a vegetarian thread) of sliced and baked celeriac. Many many mushrooms, lots of salads with oil and pine nuts.

Some bread things made of almond flour when I desperately needed a bread-substitute.

It really worked for me. You need to plan well, though!

I was also going to suggest stir fried tofu and veg. When I’m feeling lazy I buy those big ready prepared bags of stir fry veg from Tesco, along with Tofoo brand smoked tofu, and it makes a tasty meal stir fried in a bit of oil and soy sauce. I have it with brown rice because I’m not a huge fan of noodles.

Another thing I’ve had some success with is taking easy chicken curry recipes and substituting Quorn ‘chicken’ pieces for the chicken. I don’t normally use meat substitutes like Quorn but I do find this works.

I like pulses. I’ve been basically living on coconut dal recently (for supper with brown rice, or for lunch at work with a couple of high protein ryvitas). I use a recipe that looks a lot like this one:

www.vegansociety.com/resources/recipes/gluten-free/coconut-dhal-gluten-free

I’ve also just made this black bean and quinoa chilli, and it was so yummy:

kelliesfoodtoglow.com/2014/01/31/black-bean-quinoa-chili-super-bowl-supper/

Finally, for a really easy one I love this Southwestern Lentil Bake:

www.fromachefskitchen.com/southwestern-lentil-brown-rice-bake/

I live alone so i batch cook these recipes and freeze them. I’ve lost 2stone since the summer.

Just seen that you have digestive issues with lentils, sorry. I do too a bit but i just take gaviscon when needed. The middle recipe doesn’t contain any.

I found doing low carb high fat worked a treat. Shed 2 stone between April and July.

Straight from the can. I drain about half the water from the can, use the other half of the liquid blitzed with the chockpeas to make a smoother dip. This depends on your preference for how chunky you like your hummus.

Loserinlove · 01/01/2019 19:47

That’s a good shout, I’ll try this.

The chickpeas is a hummus dip, just without the faff of the other ingredients. I eat it as a dip with veg sticks.

It's my lunch most days and is really filling. The peppers and celery are very volumous - there's lots of them to fill your tummy!

TulipsInbloom1 · 01/01/2019 19:45

fate do you heat the chickpeas or just straight from the can?
