Thoughts?

Would be interested on it's effects on appetitie for those who struggle with weight. A colleague who is overweight and has diabetes (type 2) was advised to have breakfast. She has gained weight, and HBA1c through the roof...

It’s best to eat only when you are hungry, and that sometimes means skipping breakfast.

I lose weight better without breakfast. I have a big coffee and that keeps me going until lunch. If you look into intermittent fasting (where you eat within a certain window of time each day) most people doing it skip breakfast and eat lunch and dinner.

I find I eat much more sensibly and lose weight easier if I don't eat breakfast. If I don't eat breakfast I can happily make it till lunch, when I feel properly hungry and eat a decent healthy meal. If I eat breakfast it sort of triggers the hungry switch and I tend to snack a lot throughout the morning and I eat a lot more carby stuff.
I suppose it could be a 16:8 fasting pattern.

I am type 1 and find I am most insulin resistant in the mornings, as are most diabetics. (This means you need more insulin to process carb-containing foods.) I personally have found skipping breakfast to be a good way to lose a little weight and keep blood glucose steady. It needs to be done carefully if your colleague is on insulin or any medication though, she will need to test bg regularly at first.
