I have just signed up to MFP and never counted calories before I normally just eat healthily but too much too often!

So I have no idea how many calories are in the breakfast I just had - (3 large spoonfuls of FF plain yoghurt / handful of frozen blueberries / a passion fruit) / coffee with milk - and now the app is asking me to figure this out.... I had signed up thinking MFP would help make this type of tedious calorie counting How do you do this without spending your whole frikin day trying to figure out cals???

Any MFP expert help would be much appreciated Flowers

You have to get some digital kitchen scales and weigh everything. I add 200 m of milk everyday to cover tea and a coffee. But you will have to weigh everything.

Then click on "all exercise" tab (see photo) and select exercise you want to add.

To add exercise, click plus symbol (see photo 1); then click exercise symbol(see photo 2); click type of exercise-cardio/strength (see photo 3). As I can't upload more than 3 photos I'm going to add another message.

Found barcode scanner thanks!

Can I ask another question please... if my fitness app doesn't link up with MFP then how can I add in the exercise I've done manually?

I stand corrected - one teabag is 2 calories. I find this so minimal that have not logged it.

Re: tea - tea itself has no calories so you'd add how much of milk you put in. Mine is roughly 30mls.
You can choose to use different 'serving size' to get the right amount. E.g. if the default is 100ml, you can click on it and make it 1ml and then choose 30 for the number of servings.

When you go to add food, there's a picture of a barcode on the top right corner. Click that and you can scan the barcode. Majority of food items are already there, if not, you can add it.

Also, how would you know calories for something like a cup of tea with a splash of semi skimmed milk? Brew

What you need is:

  • reliable kitchen scales
  • learn to use the barcode scanning function (saves a lot of time!)

Really recommend weighing things as estimations are often, before you get used to things, way off.
