Through the letterbox charity bags

For some reason, I tend to feel better about handing any goods I want to donate directly to a charity shop. What is the difference with using the bags posted through the letterbox; is it just the same, but saving me a trip into town?

Unfortunately I think quite a lot of these bags are not genuine and money making schemes. Happy to be told I'm wrong though!

I use them as bin bags. I Don't trust them.
