play kitchen - IKEA Dutkig

Hiya!

I'm looking to buy a wooden play kitchen for my soon to be 2YO daughter's birthday.

Does anyone have the Dutkig play kitchen?

We were in IKEA last week and she loved playing with the Dutkig play kitchen - although the doors seemed really difficult to open. You can see it here.

Before I saw this I was going to go for the John Lewis red one but this is significantly cheaper...

we have one - bought by gps for 2 year old. The doors are hard to open - but I think ideally it is supposed to be secured at the back. Ours isn't because we don't have the back part - DD is too short!

It's lovely, and she enjoys littering the kitchen playing with all the bits and pieces

she can be found 'buttering' bread and doing 'chop, chop, chopping' on the little board :)

betsaluna do bear in mind that you will spend the rest of your days rescuing the various bits from your kitchen - unless you have the luxury of a playroom.

DD also quickly worked out that you could take the little sink out to access what was in the cupboard if you could't get the door open!!

very clever of your DD to work around ikea's engineering faults!

no playroom luxury here... we've been improvising in our kitchen with a cardboard box and play cutting food. after having to move the cooker twice to rescue halves of kiwi and something that appears to be an avocado, i've decided that the new play kitchen will go in the bedroom.

My 4 yr old ds has the kitchen its fab, really durable and my ds and his friends love it.

We have the Santoys wooden separates - washing machine, cooker and sink. Of those, I think the cooker and sink have the most play value. We've had them for 15 months, and they've been played with loads and loads and have taken a battering! I've moved them round the house and in the garden loads too.

I'd really recommend them. They're £65 each.

I got ds the ikea one for xmas he is 4 now and absolutley loves it he plays with it at least everyday, its very strong and durable. Although I will add that with all the accessories it does add up we spend about £130 allthogether because I added wooden play food from elc which is also great!
