Livery notice period

I'd like some opinions if you would!

Pony is on assisted livery. This includes stable/grazing, plus extras as follows - turn out every day, net of hay every day and 1 bale of shavings a week.

Pony has moved to sales livery. I've given a months notice. Owner has charged me for the full assisted package, rather than 1 months basic diy. It's a difference of £90. I'm just baulking a bit at paying for hay and shavings that A) I won't use and B) yard owner will use for her own horses!

Normal do you think?

Your notice is unique to you and will be charged at the same rate as your usual livery. YABU.

I've paid it and I'm taking shavings etc. We're both happy with that!

If you are having to pay for your hay and bedding as part of your notice then I would take them with you as they are ‘yours’

Just as a point - I'm taking a horse on loan that is on the current yard. I will be moving him closer to home in a month. Would it be fair do you think if I gave him the hay and collected my shavings to bed new box down!?

@Floralnomad we're still getting along okay - I haven't mentioned the above tbh as it wasn't important enough to sour the relationship. Yes I suppose I could.

It all sounds very annoying , I suppose you could always ask her to give you the 4 bales of shaving as they legally belong to you , as you have parted on poor terms I’d probably be tempted .

I suppose as things haven't been the best there it's just annoyed me more! If they ever much him out it isn't done properly, other owners and I have spent hours pulling up ragwort etc, we can't now lunge in the school which has been levelled once since October and now the membrane is coming up. When I had pony on completely full livery through lockdown his field wasn't poo picked at all which left me with three months of shit to clear when we started diy again. Stupid small things but annoying.

I would assume that your notice needs to be paid at the same rate as the livery you had so why I understand your frustration I don’t think the yard owner has actually done anything wrong .

Thanks @GrumpiestOldWoman. The yard is mainly DIY, I'm the only one on assisted.

I understand where you're coming from though.

I can see why it's not just DIY price, the yard owner will want to replace you and doubtless with another assisted person, so they would lose a month's services income if you switched to DIY without notice (which is in effect what you are doing).
