Showjumps??

I have been Internet trawling to try and find some reasonably priced jumps for my daughters. A starter set would be fine up to 2'6". I was thinking plastic as then we can store in the field but they are very expensive.

Any ideas?

Should I just get some decent poles and then use tyres/ crates - but then where do I get those from.

Any help gratefully received.

Think these are about as inexpensive as you will find for new ones. The alternative is to buy some poles and paint them yourself, and find instructions on the internet on how to make some very basic wings.

Someone at my old yard made some fantastic lightweight poles out of the hard plastic roll core from carpets - if you have a big carpet supermarket near you its worth asking for the old roll centres. You can then get some of those plastic coloured pole covers online.

Empty plastic barrels are also useful wings (if you know any friendly farmers who might have some lying around), and you can buy special barrel wing jump cups.

Basic wooden upright wings aren't difficult to make if you are halfway handy with a saw.

We have plastic ones. I prefer plastic poles as I think they are a bit kinder on my horses' legs if they knock them. I got them from eBay. They were a few hundred, but have lasted well and don't need maintenance
