Poor dd can't ride - she's miserable

Dd, just turned 13, has injured her hip - not sure how - she's waiting for an MRI scan but the consultant thinks she's torn the cartilage inside her hip joint. She's had to stop all sport and even walking is painful but what's really upsetting her is she's not able to ride. Has anyone been through something similar and come out the other side so I can give her some optimism?
