Can you help my DD with these horse shoes?

We recently moved house and in a very overgrown part of the garden DH found a bucket of horse shoes. DD (6) has cleaned up the largest and smallest ones and wants to take them into school for 'show and tell'. She would like to be able to say what type of horse might have worn each shoe.

The larger shoe is 7 inches wide and 6 inches long. There is a 9 engraved on it.

The smaller shoe is 4.25 inches wide and long. It has a 2 engraved on it.

Any help you can give me so that DD has a something to say about these will be great.

Not sure if its any use at all but I know my thoroughbred takes a size 5 shoe....

I'd have a google at info about shoes and get her to talk about why people shoe horses and how the farriers pop them on :)

Have a look here - the 9 & the 2 will be something to do with sizes.....
