Nervous about LFT in secondary school

So today and tomorrow I am a testing processor at my school. That means (I think) preparing the lateral flow device for each student, encouraging them through the swabbing and then taking the tube from them when they've done the self swab and see if they are positive or negative.
I am outrageously nervous about the entire thing. Is anyone else having to do the same? I thought I would just be directing the children to do the test, not being so hands on with the process and I am worried I'm going to make a mess of it. I'm just a History teacher!

Yes I did the online training thanks sureitwillbegrand. But you know what it's like when you've not actually done it yet!
It was simple Quidditch but a bit fiddly, monitoring and completing the tests as well as remembering to check the ones piling up after 20 mins tested parts of my brain I've not used for a while 😁 Another day tomorrow.

Teachers are not doing it in my school -has been happening this week with parent volunteers doing it.
We have been sent a video as to what to expect (teachers going in tomorrow to be tested) -looks simple enough.

Have you not had training? I had to complete online training (watch some videos) and then complete an assessment (multiple choice questions) and I received certificates after.

Many of our support staff are shielding until end of this month, I think that's why. I don't want to be the cog in the chain who can't do a very basic thing. I'd prefer to be the one who wipes the testing station down

Yes, each individual task isn't rocket science, it's more that the overall operation takes a huge organisational effort and co-ordination. We completed over 1000 tests on both Tues and Weds (that's just the first test done now).
Surprised you are expected to do this as a teacher though. Only support staff are being used at our school.

I was slightly worried that I won't have full guidance as we have to turn up fifteen minutes before! But thanks, that's good to know re sixth formers. I just hate to do a job I feel ill-prepared for, if you know what I mean. I have done the training videos but I really want to know exactly what that looks like in practice.

No, live teaching is suspended today and tomorrow and they are doing independent learning from tasks I have already set, as they are all in getting their tests done.

It's fine, you'll be in PPE and have full guidance. You should barely touch the swab as students should put it into the container themselves and you swish it round and then bin it. We've got ex sixth formers doing it and managing fine.

Are you not remote teaching? I'd be concerned about workload.
