Oh gosh. This might be a bit lengthy. I had a funny feeling this placement would be like this. I went in a long time ago say November last year to walk around and there was a funny vibe through the department. It’s a bit cliquey.

I feel really uncomfortable every time I go in. I’m not sure what to do? I feel pretty alone there no one really talks to me and not only that it’s just there’s some big characters on the maths department. Mainly women too.

Can anyone give me some advice. Has anyone else hated their placement. I love teaching and I don’t want to give up but this placements hellish

It's not so much toughening up. I spent some of my placements crying in the loos, it's a very stressful time! But see it as a means to an end. You're there to get the qualification not to win over this department.

How many weeks is it for? Be thankful it's not a job you have to spend years in! It does get harder to be friendly and welcoming when workload and stress are high, as I'm sure they are for the school just now. You need to stick it out and get a job somewhere you feel better in.
If you got a funny feeling just from a visit, it does sound like you're projecting

I think I responded on your other thread (assuming you are the same poster).

I know it's really hard if you don't like your placement school -I loved my first one but really didn't like the 2nd. The school generally was just really unfriendly.

However, it's not forever. Honestly, head down, be polite/professional, gather the evidence for the standards and just get through it. Your placement is probably 10 weeks ish? It's not that long -grit your teeth and get to the end and then you never have to work there again.

You posted the same thread a couple of days ago.

Brush up on your resilience.

Do the things you need to do to get through the placement.

Job done.
