Improve my pension as part timer

Since I went to 0.4 part time my pension is not looking good. Has anyone overpaid into their pension whilst part time? The person who deals with pay and pensions in school never seems to know anything. Is this possible or even a good idea?

"The person who deals with pay and pensions in school never seems to know anything". They aren't qualified or authorised to give you financial advice and neither should they be. School staff are advised not even to print forms, only to direct colleagues to the pension fund in case it's construed as advice.

Speak to the Pension fund and/or get some proper financial advice.

Speak to your pensions advisers.

yes you can apply to increase your contributions, I think its done on a yearly basis and I think you have to sort the paperwork out in March to start in April. There are forms yo can download from the teachers pension website. It’s also possible to put in a lump sum... but that is as an additional contribution, along side your pensions proper.
