Having found the sit-in and pondered all the walks threads, just wondering if there are any other munro baggers out there? I was nearly half way until the kids happened 5 years ago and haven't climbed anything exciting since (I realise that still leaves me nearly halfway) ... anyone climbed any bens or sgurrs recently?

Hi, we've moved this into The Great Outdoors.

I have managed one of the munros that make up Beinn Allign, it was amazing, such lovely views out over the sea. This thread is great, it's inspired me to get the munro book out and plan some trips!

I really used to have a head for heights... Beinn Eighe I really enjoyed, as well as the next one over.. Alligin I think

Knoydart was beautiful just for the boat ride - I stayed down on the beach with DD while DP went up. I really should get my act together and start doing something again... hard to plan in advance around kids and weather though

Yes...kind of. My dh is a Munro bagger - I occasionally go along for the climb.

I love Torridon (although all west coast is fantastic). Have done An Teallach. Don't remember it being that bad as took DH up it and he wasn't used to that much scrambling. I think some of the harder bits can be avoided.
I'm desperate to go to Knoydart but won't manage that for a few years yet. I keep thinking I should plan a trip on the sleeper train and have a sneaky weekend up in Scotland somewhere!

I don't think I'll ever manage An Teallach or Liathach. I got halfway up Beinn Eighe and freaked out on the scree beside the triple buttress so I'm not so good at tricky stuff. Big paths and sunny days, that's what I like!

I too love a nice big path!! Or a good stalkers path will do.

What's your favourite area for walking? I love the Cairngorms the most, but the hills around Loch Ossian give amazing views in every direction. I love it there, got one more of them to do and might try to do that this year too.

o some more baggers...

I like the glenfeshie ones (I am a bit partial to a good track going most of the way up) .. I was eyeing up Slioch next, but worry I will collapse halfway on the walk in. Trouble is that we've done most of the easier ones up here and the stuff within striking distance are the likes of Liathach and An Teallach and I am way out of practice with scrambling

Me! I've done about 70 I think but have only managed about 1 a year since the DCs were born. However, I am on a mission this year to do a few more. Its been quite a mild winter so I'm hoping what snow there is will have gone by the Easter holidays and I'll maybe get a couple done then. Have my eye on some in Glen Feshie that I fancy trying.

I've only done about 10 but love the idea of making it a project to do the lot. Being another south dweller though, it would basically mean spending all my holidays in Scotland for the foreseeable future.

Big hills sneeze. In Scotland. I've done a couple of Furths.

DP completed nearly 4 years ago - I even missed that as I didn't fancy lugging my 7 month bump up onto Nevis (I did just find the champagne cork that was popped in thick fog)

DD1 climbed her first Corbett the other week (I was left behind with DD2) - she's only 5 and dead chuffed (although rather cold and soaked)

Climbed Ben Lomond a coupld of weeks ago. It was my third Munro and my kids (10 & 7) first.

It's a bit too far for us to travel so we normally stop at the Lake District. Climbed all 214 there (pre children) and now starting again.

DH - took him half a life time and he refused the certificate as he was number 1,000,500 or something similar. When he started only about a handful had completed the list!
