Well more, dog has taken up residence on the doorstep. Police can’t help gave number for dog warden, which doesn’t work out of hours. Sspca shut. Have put a post on next door & preparing one for Facebook.

No collar have given it some water. It looks very well cared for.
Any idea who else to call?

Have you got a belt or a dressing gown tie or a rope to keep it close. Could you knock on a neighbour or someone you know who is dog friendly to take it in. Don't just let it wonder off that's someone's fur baby!
Can you pop it in your garden for the moment and call the out of hours vet

Either take it in or call the local vets and drop him off there you can’t just leave it outside it could wander into a road and get injured .

Post on facebook - including the local lost dog groups. More often than not they'll have volunteers with scanners who can come and check for a chip.

If you can't bring the dog in to keep it warm and safe overnight do you have a shed? Would a neighbour?

Bring it in somewhere!
Where are you? Maybe a MNer near you could help.

Ring a local vets, they'll be able to help. Or try any local farms if the dog doesn't have a collar.

Poor pooch. Please keep him safe.

And post everywhere.

Please take it in, even provide some shelter in the garden. Otherwise it could get run over in the dark. It will be someone's beloved pet if it looks well cared for, possibly been let out of a garden unintentionally.

This is what local Facebook groups were made for .

Do you have a shed or garage where he could stay overnight?
Any local rescues might have s volunteer with a microchip scanner?

Our local vets has an emergency service which takes in lost pets. Try googling an emergency vet.
They don't charge people who find dogs.

Why can’t you bring it in? Please try. This dog needs to be kept safe overnight until it can be reunited with its owner - hopefully tomorrow.

It’s quite a big dog.

Definitely on local dog lost sites, they may have volunteers who can come out and scan

Call your local vet. There will be an emergency provision. They should be able to help/advise.

We really can’t bring it in. I might give it a blanket (when DH isn’t looking) I’ve given it a bit of water. It’s whining 😨

I’ll try doglost as well.

I would keep him/her safe over night (if you can) and ring the vets as soon as they open if you don't get a response on Facebook ect sooner. As im sure the first thing the owner will be doing is alerting all the local vets.

Thank you for caring for the little dog.

You could call a local vet and get a chip check but they won’t do that until tomorrow. Plaster over FB, register with Doglost etc. Can you give it somewhere to sleep tonight?
