Is this plan too much for a new puppy?

Puppy will be 10 weeks old. Would it be too much to drive him an hour away to a family get together (6 adults, 3 children) for a sniff around their garden and general play/meet the family. He doesn’t get car sick, well not that we know of-he’s done 2 trips to the vets and just slept. We’d of had him for 3 days.

Thankyou for all the reassurance. One of the DC has SEN so I anticipate she’ll get very excited about the visit and will want to pick pup up etc but it’ll be a good experience for her and they’ll be plenty of adults there to control things. I’ll make sure the puppy doesn’t get overwhelmed.

I would do it too. It's good for puppies to meet lots of people and spend time doing lots of different things. Take your crate if you use one so pup has a safe place to retire to and sleep!

He should be fine on the journey and likely just sleep the whole way there and back.

The children need to be made aware that they mustn't get too hyper around him though, and that they mustn't try to pick him up; a small wriggly puppy is easily dropped.

I would say yes absolutely do it, especially if it's somewhere he will visit regularly with you.

Sounds great: a good chance for some socialisation. Give him the chance for some down time while you're there, so he doesn't get over excited and you should be fine.

That would be fine. We picked our pup up at eight weeks from mid wales and drove back to Devon. She slept all the way in the car. They seem to sleep about 22 hours a day anyway that young 😂😂💤💤

He’ll have had his 2nd jab on the day we get him so only 3 days prior but we’d only let him out in their garden and they’ve never had any dogs.

We wouldn’t stay too long but yes we’d take his bed although I expect he’d just fall asleep on our lap (we took him for a very check and he slept on DS whilst we were sitting in reception and only woke after his injection).

Will he have somewhere to go (crate/bed) if things get too much? I think that's important as he could easily get quite overwhelmed!

And it wouldn’t matter that he’s not house trained as they don’t have carpet.
