Has anyone watched this on Sky Crime?

I can't find any forum conversations about it and it's all left me so confused!

I can't answer why those few bits of Dayonte's DNA were found on the items but I really don't think he did it.
I think the time line was out and the husband killed her before leaving home.

I was stunned at the end when the husband gave his impact statement and said that Dayonte had deliberately stabbed her 25 times to make it look like a family member and that he had thought to put her in a warm bath to stop police from knowing the time of death...It almost sounded like he wanted people to know how clever it was to put her in a warm bath.

If Dayonte had broken in and killed her to keep her quiet I can't believe he would have even considered dragging her to a bath.

I cant believe they convicted him on such flimsy evidence. My moneys on the Father. He had motive opportunity & means. Married again to a woman half his age & still lives in the house.

The husband making the comment about the bath water and time of death is hugely suspicious!
The only reason they seem to assume it wasn't him is because the neighbour said she saw the door closing at 12, but who's to say she didn't get her time wrong and that happened at 11 when he was still home.

It's shocking how easily someone can be convicted beyond reasonable doubt when my head is full of doubts!! He could have been sentenced to death

I can't actually believe they found him guilty of murder in the first degree. The first trial, which seemed much less polished on the side of the defence was almost manslaughter so how come this was murder in the first.

I'm very suspicious of the husband. His statement at the end.... I mean Dayonte didn't strike me as a person who would think I'll stab her excessively to make it look like it was a rage filled crime, or would think to put her in the bath to confuse the time of death.

Re the DNA I'm really confused because before the first trial one expert was saying that it wasn't a match but more a case of putting different samples together to make a match but I didn't hear anyone state that at either trial.

I really don't think Dayonte is guilty and I think he will end up another man spending years in prison. Look at the case of Rodney Lincoln. He spent 38 years in prison for a crime he didnt commit . Terrible.

Agreed! If Dayonte was going there to kill Jill (assuming it was premeditated as First Degree Murder suggests) then why not bring his own weapon? Also, Jill was incapacitated when she was bound and in the bath so there was no need to kill her if the intention was robbery. I highly doubt she would have been able to identify Dayonte unless she knew him.
Definitely overkill which usually means it's personal.
And to take all that time in the house yet still leave with nothing? It's just unbelievable.
Yeah very suspicious of the son's behaviour. The 911 call, erratic in the interview room, lying constantly. Either he had something to do with it or possible mental health issues?
The husband probably was the most suspicious for me. Throwing his son under the bus straight away, he was the last to leave the house that morning, conveniently checks the camera at the same time an intruder is there, lied about seeing Jill's body coming out the house. Then he remarrys a 30 year old lady very quickly after and proceeds to remain living in the house? Just strange!

The son absolutely sounded like he was acting, awful acting. The only thing they had on Dayonte was a small amount of DNA. But, did you see where they said that they have had a multitude of lab results made to fit, I think the police had it right from the start with the son, it was overkill and he had no reason to lie but he did. It was his knives that were used and he kept changing his story

We just watched it and I honestly don't know! The husband and son were very suspicious. Why lie about some things? I reckon if the police had continued to interview the son he would have broke and revealed something. That phonecall to 911 was weird. Saying she killed herself when she was clearly bound? Also the husband threw his son under the bus almost straight away. Who does that?!
But why was Dayonte's DNA at the scene? Don't think a jury would ever get over that kind of evidence.
I knew they would come back with the Guilty verdict but I think First Degree is absolutely crazy! They are trying to say he went specifically to murder her. But why this random lady?
I could go on and on. 😅
