We are being spoilt

new unforgotten and the bay !!!

starts next wed - whoop

we weren’t sure how s3 would be without lisa (morven) but Jenn (Marsha) managed to pull it off so hopefully s5 unforgiven will be the same without Cassie

so s4

series 4 will focus on the death of young mum Beth Metcalf, who appears to have been killed in a targeted attack.

Jenn Townsend is called to help bereft husband Dean, who is struggling to hold it together with four children to look after.

And as Jenn, Manning, and the team dig into the case, "they discover secrets and lies lurk beneath every surface".

ITV drama boss Polly Hill said: "I'm delighted that we will be returning to Morecambe for another series of The Bay. Marsha Thomason delivered a brilliant performance as DS Jenn Townsend, and it will be exciting to see where Daragh takes her character in series 4.

The Bay (www.bt.com/tv/drama/the-bay-series-3-itv-meet-the-cast) has become one of ITV’s most popular returning series with viewers watching the Morecambe-set detective drama in their millions.
Marsha Thomason will return as family liaison officer DS Jenn Townsend for The Bay series 4 in 2023 with familiar faces from Morecambe CID also back in the cast.
In series 4 we’ve been promised another story filled with twists and turns, all set once more on the dramatic and glorious coastline of north-west England.

Written by Daragh Carville (Being Human, Cherrybomb), the police drama first aired in 2019, when Morven Christie (www.bt.com/tv/drama/morven-christie-in-spotlight-the-bay-grantchester-the-a-word) led the cast as DC Lisa Armstrong.
Christie and co-star Taheen Modak, who played Med Kharim, left the show after series 2, with Thomason stepping into her shoes as the local force's family liaison officer in s3

Well she should have left her current husband anyway as she was sleeping with someone else!

I did wonder about eldest daughter and the mention she was pregnant as actress makes sense, she just seemed wrong to me and I couldn't work out why.

Ex wife left 2nd hubby for him

But she should have left for herself

She's pissed off that now she has no man

That's all true, but it was undercut a bit by the way he ended up; his team going to be cut, himself probably in for quite a bollocking, it didn't look a bright future for him on the job, it would have been an ideal time to cut free. And you never got the sense that he loved the job that much. So, bottom line, he was just frit.

I described it above as underwhelming, but I think the point about the boss ditching the plan to move to France is the reason the pair split in the first place, that his job always took priority over her. Now, when she's put him above her current marriage, he's done exactly the same again, proving that it was never going to work.

That's how I understood it. She thought he had changed but at the end of the day he's still the same man she divorced. Just felt quite sad for her as she'd put too much faith in him and ended her current marriage.

And yes he didn't want to live to France

Could have still been with her

The police boss didn’t exactly drop the ex wife. He just said that he couldn’t move to France now. They could have got back together and waited a few years til he retired. But that is too logical. Also moving to France not quite as straight forward now is it - Brexit etc
it was the weakest in the series with a very underwhelming ending. Although thank goodness the daughter Erin went back to her father

I felt very sorry for police boss ex wife. She had ended her marriage thinking her and boss were moving to France only to be told he's changed his mind with no explanation.

Love the Bay but this series was poor, the ending was so random and disappointing. Why would the police boss be seeing he is ex and then drop her all a bit pointless.

I haven’t been commenting as I missed a couple of episodes at TV timing and then got ahead on catch-up and forgot how it was all playing out in real time.

Short summary, I still like the programme, but didn’t care much, or, buy into this series. Ended up underwhelmed.

Really unsatisfactory conclusion having Lewis being the one that killed Beth. And surely by bullying Maddie he was more likely to be caught what with her mother investigating the case 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just didn't really buy it. Don't believe that Lewis would torch the house to impress his step-dad, even if he thought it was empty. Didn't believe that Erin would want to go and live with her flaky, selfish Mum either (although that didn't last long). Don't see why police boss would sabotage it with his ex, especially as he was torching his own career anyway. I did think the team might have had a word of thanks to him for standing up for them in front of the top brass, though, futile as it probably was..

You've summed it up perfectly.

Even more unlikely was the police boss suddenly changing his mind about getting back with his wife.
