German series with subtitles

Need to brush up my German. Can anyone recommend good German drama series (preferably crime/thriller type) please?
Must have English subtitles.
We have Netflix and Prime as well as catch up for mainstream channels.
We've seen Deutschland 83 etc

Kleo, just finished watching an episode now, I don't speak any German but am watching in German anyway.


Totally fits the bill. On netflix (here in France). Hope it is in the UK too.

Walter Presents on All4 generally has a couple series of Tatort which are a,ways good if you like your crime dramas, drives me mad that they don’t prefix them with that though. The two at the moment are Falke and Inspektor Borowski as others have said but they swap them in and out from time to time. The Team is partly in German as well.

Dark. Best series I've seen anywhere ever. Having lived in a few countries.

You can change the language in the "audio and subtitles" .

I was going to recommend Babylon Berlin but good to see it get mentioned so many times already!

There's also Bad Banks which you should find on the ZDF Mediathek. It's a German/Luxembourg drama series.

The Same Sky if it's still on Netflix is very good. Set in East/West Berlin during the 1970s, the attention to detail is spot on.

Not a series but a recent film : I'm Your Man. Dan Stevens plays a robot who is being trialled as a companion/husband - gentle, funny in parts and thoughtful and easy to follow in German with subtitles

I really enjoyed Der Pass (Pagan Peak). Beautifully filmed but very unsettling as the peak from the title looms over everything.

I came to say Babylon Berlin and How to sell drugs online (fast). But I can never remove the names of things so had to wait till other people said them first. How helpful of me.

also, my friend says you can change the language of some shows so they are dubbed. I don’t know how they sound to a native speaker but she’s using it that way to help her grandchildren learn her first language.

Heimat - the tv series - is available to stream (I loved it - but it was the 90s?though and was practically the only thing worth watching at the time!)

top tip for learning a language - watch it eith the subtitles for that language.

I agree but need these subtitles to be in English if DH watching. German subtitles if watching alone.
