Channel 4, heartbreaking.

”I tell everyone I am a twin, not I was a twin” 😢

It was really raw and unflinching

And actually it made me really love and admire and respect Will more.

What that family must have had to go through I can't imagine. It reminds me of the film I watched the other day 'Beautiful Boy' although that was about drugs but it really showed the futileness of it all

I really loved that person who did the stitching too

What really made me think was :

Drugs are not killing you they're killing me

It was a really well made programme showing lots of different sides

I'm really left thinking about it

It isn’t something I can bear to think about OP. Which is probably why I felt so incredibly moved. I am me but I will always feel as though I’m part of (for my MN name) my ‘Missy’.

It was very moving.

I have adult twins who are very close, I don't know how they would cope if there was only one of them, not to mention the rest of the family.

I understand the pain of watching someone you love lose themselves in the drink. All in the past now but I didn’t cope well with it.

I understood all he said and I commend him on his courage to speak of his love and ultimately his loss so graciously and so gently.

And he is right. He will always be a twin. He will always be a wee bit of two. Despite life’s difficulties, that will always be a beautiful thing that he can carry with him forever.

It moved me.

I'm surprised that this programme seems to have been overlooked on here especially after all the excellent reviews in the media.
It was refreshing honest about how it is to have a family member suffering from alcoholism/suicidal attempts and the effect it has on everyone around them. Will said for example, he and his parents would get a phone call from some random place and they would have to swoop in and rescue him and they had been doing this for over 20 years. They did everything they possibly could to help him. In 2016, Rupert moved in to live with Will who then became his carer for the next four years
Heartbreaking when Will talked about him lying drunk and collapsed outside the news agents or knocking neighbour's doors begging for money. Not once did Will blame Rupert, he said it's an illness and talked of the shame Rupert felt.
Incredibly sad.

As someone with an alcoholic (currently in recovery) in the family, it really resonated. Trying everything to make him stop, giving up and buying the beer for him, kicking him out… I thought how he spoke about Rupert as a person was lovely - not sugar coated, not hateful, mainly remembering lovely memories. Alcoholism is a dreadful disease for so many people (the addicts and their families).

It was certainly interesting. What he did to help his twin and their early childhood. Very sad indeed.
