Madeleine McCann, the Christian B Investigation

Hi,
I recorded this programme but the warnings at the beginning put me off watching it, with references to child sex abuse. Did anyone watch this and how bad was it? I remember a thread a few years ago about the investigation and then it was in the news recently that they were digging an area in Germany where Christian B lived I think. Nothing more was ever reported.
I wonder if the McCanns will ever get closure. The despicable monster who took that little girl needs to be located and brought to justice.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not sure about whether to watch it. I was very invested in this from previous Maddie threads. I saw something unsettling when we were on holiday in the Algarve in 2001 I think it was. A man was watching a young girl with her family in a cafe in the mountains. He just struck me as odd and scary. Then when Maddie disappeared it made me recall that time. I read that the Algarve was rife with paedophiles and I wondered about that man..horribly unsettling.

I watched it last night. I thought it was quite poor.

How anyone can believe the McCanns hurt M amazes me.
All these years later there would be some proof.

What think of and what i want to say about the MCanns would get me banned

Ah come on. Don't be shy

Do you think the other families in their party should have been jailed for neglect?

Would that make you feel better?

Any views on Caroline Hogg'a mum. You might have to Google but go on. Do you think she should have been jailed?

I watched it and the programme seemed to suggest it wasn’t him. Who knows if it will ever be resolved...someone somewhere knows.

This.
It was quite interesting but also horrid because even though I don't believe he is responsible he is also a vile excuse of a human.

The “drug” the Portuguese police made so much of was a bottle of Calpol.

By the time they asked their 80 or so questions it was clear the police had no interest in finding their daughter and just wanted to stitch them up. Like any sensible person in that position, they listened to their lawyer.

Is this available to watch online? I followed the case quite closely too.

I followed the case quite closely initially. I'm not sure what happened. There was some odd behaviour, allegedly they wiped their phones, moved furniture, the shutter forced/not forced, the injunction over an inappropriate comment made by their group etc. And yes, it's hard to overlook the cadaver dog and blood.

Then again, would they have kept it up for this long? I don't know. I'm not sure the truth will ever be found.

You missed dogs and tennis

MN knocked off my comment but it was similar

She never mentioned the dogs - so not quite a full house

I watched it. Yes, there were multiple references and direct transcript quotes that showed the extent of Christian B's depravity. Detail wasn't spared, but you were warned just beforehand.
I thought it was an excellent piece of investigative journalism. He's a former police officer and put forward a very good case.
Well worth watch.
Could anyone tell me what the 'Tennis' and 'dogs' reference means?

And a quick google shows that the documentary concluded that he wasn’t involved.

This thread will be removed because of all the speculation. Why people can’t just stick to the programme it was about I don’t know.

OP I watched about the first 20 minutes of it and it was weird.

A lot of detail was given about him and he was clearly a vile individual, but this programme was all about this journalist trying to prove he’d abducted madeleine, with all this somber music in the background. Totally sensationalist and creepy and I switched it off after about 20 minutes.

TBH I don’t believe that he’s guilty of this particular crime, it’s just too convenient that the German police named him as a person of interest because he ended up in jail there, and the Portuguese named him as a suspect on the day before the 15th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance because after 15 years a case is closed and no further suspects can be revealed according to Portuguese law.

And because he’s guilty of several other despicable crimes it makes sense to just tie him into that one.

Because they are white middle class doctors .

i was reading about something the other day and it’s very clear that your profession, income and colour influences your treatment in situations by authority.

eg au unemployed couple doing what MM parents did would be accused of neglect and lose their remaining dc

or I was reading about cases where working class parents with school with certain medical issues (seen as red flags-ASD, EDS, allergies and ME) are accused of FII but if parents of children with these conditions are drs/lawyers or just rich they don’t get accused of anything …..
