Teenage depression - support for parents??

Friend's DD(15) being treated for depression. Mum struggling to cope with it - all the support seems to be focused on the DD.

Does anyone know if there are any online or real life support groups/resources available to support parents nd help them cope with children with depression? Clearly it's not going to help anyone if the Mum starts to really crumble.

If you could point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful.

Your friend could try calling Mind or even Young Mind, or getting a referral for counselling from her GP. In my experience as the mother of a depressed teen there isn't a whole lot of support for parents. My DC has just started on a programme called DBT which includes group sessions for parents. These sessions haven't started yet though so I don't know how useful they are.

Good luck to your friend, it's tough Flowers
