Wanted - Modern piece of furniture

I'm in the process of redecorating, I want a small side-board type-thing (but not a sideboard) that I can use to store dd's toys. It doesn't have to have doors.

I want quite a modern look and I like things a bit unusual, I've looked in habitat and the likes but it's all this light wood and it just won't go with the floor I've got my heart set on.

Any ideas of where to look? I don't really want to spend too much as it'll only last a couple of years.

Anyone know/heard/seen any of 'Space Living' Designs in RL?

There webpages look like they have some funky stuff but you can't 'see' it very well iykwim

Finally got round to having a look, couldn't really find any of the items I'd looked at with a direct URL.

Might try and have a browse on eBay later

Oh thanks for all the replies. I had to remove myself from MN to throw together some dinner.

I'm not exactly set in stone but it has to be something fairly short I think, no more than 5 foot tall as it is to fit under a staircase. it can be wide as there is a long wall but no more than 2' deep I'd say

I've been thinking about either
Retro wooden design with a modern twist (wood can't be too light - maybe based on a 1940-50's style)
or
Perspex/toughened glass with stainless steel

The design is fairly flexible as it will be the only piece of storage furniture in the room. It's going in the direction of a trendy appartment look but more than anything I just want something a bit different.

I will try and find some links to some of the things I've been looking at.

if it has no doors it will look like it stores toys as you will be able to see them!

what size exactly

When you say modern do you mean as in not antique or as in belongs in a spaceship or as in 60's 70's type thing

This might sound like a bad idea but I'd try to take a half-day off and have a look around second hand shops in your area - this is the kind of piece of furniture which they have loads of, and you won't spend a fortune either.

they have goos storage units in argos with canvas pull out drawers that are long and low. have seen them in places like joj maman bebe and blooming marvellous as well but they are much more expensive than argos.

only thing with argos is that the drawers are quite bright colours
