I just cannot work out this shop... is there a method to the madness?

How/when are the best times to shop? (presumably never with a child!!!)

Any tips?
I am sure there are great bargains to be had, I just don't have the time etc to sift through the merchandise!

Oh gawd, I'm going to have to go now. I really need some new jeans. I saw some lovely PD&C jeans in Selfridges a few weeks ago but at the price tag...

Just found this thread and thought I would share the fact that Croydon TK Maxx has Seven jeans (the hideously expensive ones beloved of celebs such as Gwyneth P a couple of years ago) for as little as £24.99. I bought a pair for £29.99. There was no rrp but I know that they retail for about £140 in Selfridges so baargain! Also, another brand I've read about in Glamour called Paper Denim and Cloth were there for about the same price. They do at least bother to put the jeans together by size 10, 12, 14 etc unlike the the mainly vile tops which are indeed a jumble sale. Calvin Klein undies also good from there, but can take ages to find right size...

I have been to tk maxx today and had the best shop I had in ages.

Bought a princess nibbs dress as seen in kendals last week for £50 but was only £11, Also bought a couple of dkny t shirts for dd, two pairs of Ralp Lauren shorts, a couple of Ralph Luren t shirts and a pair of RL beautiful trousers with a matching top - all for £60 including the dress.

Had lots of adult gypsy /boho skirts, but due to buying all of the above I didn't buy any - but well worth a visit.

I love shopping at TK Maxx as I like a bit of a rummage - OK if you have time. I have had some really good bargains however you do need to sort through the 85% "tut" that is in the shop.
My tip to people who can't bear to rummage, but want a bargain, is to pop in frequently if possible and look through the stuff that is hung up on display at the end of the aisles. This is usually new in and is changed frequently.

I'm sure you'd be able to find something 'interesting' if you went!
I'm at work in Blackburn, but live in Altham. We're looking at moving out to the Ribble Valley but haven't been able to find anything nice enough in our price bracket so far. Perhaps if I keep shopping at TK Maxx I'll be bale to save up a few more pennies!

No, MandM, I'm the other side of Pendle Hill but Burnley is the TKMaxx I use. I haven't been for ages either but can't think of a single thing I need to go for atm

JanH - are you in Burnley? I was just reading this thread thinking about how long it is since I last went to TK Maxx in Burnley! I'm itching to go now!

I don't know where you are, anchovies, but assume somewhere in the south - Burnley compared with London might help explain why they don't bother up here!

Agree about it being no good with kids! I trawl all our local ones and get very good bargains, often manage to find stuff that I have seen at full price elsewhere to big bargains to be had. Dh always does very well in there, bought him some nicole fahri trousers last week that were £20 instead of £180 (he saw them in selfridges full price just before.) Gets loads of t shirts as well. Never do as well for myself though, haven't got the patience.

All of our local ones have air con!

Although it may depend what building they're in, hc...there are 2 near here, one is in an old Sainsburys with a very high ceiling, not sure if it has a/c or not but it's usually quite pleasant in there. The other is upstairs in a shopping centre and is always boiling.

(I think in your condition I would wait until the weather cools down a bit more )

At least in IKEA, there's a method to the madness. And a place for the kids to play as well.

TK, no way!

Expat, I find IKEA reduces me to jelly.
