Desperate for a pair of slipper boots that will actually last

Birthday coming up and I'm desperate for a pair of boot style slippers that will actually last and hold their shape. They would need a hard sole rather than flimsy.

Please can anyone recommend excellent slipper boots?

Geisswein Vent fan here. Proper sole, proper arch support and made of wool. Washable.

Mine are from Tesco. Had them about 3/4 years nice solid sole with a fur trim.
I wear them all day wfh they are like new

I had a pair of knitted boot slippers with hard sole from M&S which lasted brilliantly and were about £25. Definitely recommend

I've got a pair of John Lewis sheepskin cropped boot slippers, they cost £59 and are in their third year of active service. They still look good and clean and appear to have minimal wear to the soles. JL still sell them. Normally, I'd never have considered spending sixty quid on a pair of slippers (these were a present) but I've got to admit they would have been worth every penny.

OP, I suppose the important questions are, can you afford them without borrowing and, if you do buy them, can you still afford to pay for the essentials today, this week, this month, this year? If so, the ones you mention work out at £2.31 a week if they last you a year, and less than that if they last you longer as they probably will. That is less than a takeaway coffee or newspaper a week. Only you can decide. I find leaving non-essential things in the basket for a week helps! There are cheaper Celtic & Co ones too. Mine come just above my ankle as I wear them with the cuff turned up. They are the women's sheepskin bootee slippers and are £82 direct or £79 from John Lewis, minus any discount codes you have.

A tip - after a month of wear, I've just put my hands into my slippers and floofed up the sheepskin inner soles with the ends of my fingers. The slippers almost feel new on again so I will keep on doing this from time to time. To save on p&p I wish I'd ordered a pair of their sheepskin inner soles at the time for a very old pair of much-loved outdoor leather boots I've got and also the wool wash for the slippers.

The answer to your questions are yes I can afford them without plunging myself into debt I just never really spend that much on something like slippers (which is odd as I live in them quite literally) so your breakdown is very helpful. I think we all know what the outcome will be here!

Thanks so much everyone. I've got multiple tabs open with all the recommendations. Currently got a pair sitting in Celtic and co. shopping basket and managed to find 15% code but just can't press the button. I've never spent more than £20 on a pair of slippers. £120 feels like madness! But then everyone says they will last years...

Another Somerset recommendation... Drapers of Glastonbury. Had mine over a year. Super warm and comfy. Work from home a lot so they get tons of wear. Go outside in them. Excellent wear

My Costco ones (someone posted a link above) are on their 8th year - mine are children’s ones so only cost about £17 when I got them. I mentioned to a friend how old there were, she was impressed and said they look brand new (they don’t really but have held their shape and are very clean as I only use them indoors or for very brief outings (put the bins out, drive child somewhere that I don’t have to get out of the car…)

DIL bought me these three years ago, I can go out to the bin, garage in them. Stil going strong. Not cheap but so warm. Whereas DIL needs new UGG slippers every winter. I live in mine day and night, they've seen me through all the lockdowns. I do wear the heels down 🙈. I've attached pictures

Celtic and co. Expensive but worth it. I live in mine. On my 3rd year and going strong. Machine washable. You can get sheepskin insoles to extend the life when the originals wear down too.
