Had anyone used beauty pie? Does it work as it says? Do you think it's wirth the money?

DD has glossy box subscription and seens to think that this is better. However, she did say it semms too good to be true so I said I would ask the wise women on style and beauty!

Yes it's great. I have a £5 per month subscription and buy stuff every couple of months. Very good quality, I'm yet to be disappointed. If you search Beauty Pie you will find numerous previous threads, which will be a helpful read.

I love it. Started at £5 a month but actually seem to have migrated all my skincare over to beauty pie because I'm impressed. Have increased to £15 a month

Thanks for the replies. I've shown DD the other thread and she thinks she will try it.

Tell her to search for an affiliate code to get an extra £50 spend. SALISENTME or HANNAHSENTME might still work.

I did it for a while but I’m a make up fiend and didn’t particularly like their colours.
Beauty bay in the sale however...

I am another happy BP user. I like the serums and night treatments. The foundation is good and their colour match system was very accurate for my shade.

Can I ask a question re Beauty Pie? If you pay say £5 monthly subscription, do you let this build up to spend on products after a few months or is this a membership fee to get the discounted products and you have to buy the products on top of this? Thanks

I joined last year but it kind of annoyed me in the end. I just wanted to buy what I wanted, when I wanted rather than wait for months for my allowance to build up and then find things were out of stock!!

The thing I loved most was the Japan fusion cleanser. I’m still using up my stocks of that after buying in bulk when I left. But I reckon it would be cheaper to buy that off eBay now rather than rejoin.

I didn’t rate the face oil I tried (hated the fragrance) and found the moisturiser underwhelming. Liked the triple hyalauronic acid though. Didn’t try the make up, have hardly worn any this year :(

I didn't like it. I did it as a trial for Mumsnet. You can only order a bit until your allowance gets larger. Your amount goes by the rrp and not the actual price they're selling it to you for. There's no way the products are worth the rrp.

Ladies, how does this differ from luxplus?

I am an annual member but I am going to cancel. It is not consistent enough and who wants tonnes of the same brand anyway.

I didn't know it went by the rrp, thanks for the info @seepingweeping.

That's put me off then!

I did the Mumsnet trial too. I didn't believe the rrp as other posters have said and I ended up with similar lipstick colours as I didn't manage to choose the right colours online.
I'd rather spend my money on different brands to be honest.

I think the skincare and serums are great. And the scented candles. Well worth the £5 cost of membership per month - and i'm quite a cheapskate! I buy a couple of skin products every 2-3 months once my balance has built up. Occasionally makeup too.

oh and I get Glossybox as well (it's addressed to someone who used to live here, I have let the company know but it keeps coming!) I re-gift almost all of it to goddaughter/friends.
Don't understand why you would want a random selection of make up and products, rather than ones you choose that you actually want? Some in Glossybox are high end I suspect, but never recognise the brands so it's impossible to tell. The dry shampoo i received recently had a £2.99 sticker on it, so they certainly aren't all good.......

I used to get a glossy box but gave up because every now and then there would be a product I loved but was impossible to buy anywhere

I’ve finally got round to cancelling my subscription. Had been with BP for about 2 years, having been introduced via a free month with The Pool (RIP). I had a plan to totally revamp and replace my skincare and makeup, so it seemed a good opportunity. I let my allowance build up and just before Christmas I did a huge order which included Christmas gifts too, to use every last £ up.

Pros: I loved their skincare, particularly the Japanese and Korean products. Japanfusion range is great, and the socks that eat up the dead skin a miracle! Like the masks too. Some of makeup is ok, particularly the tinted lip balms/oils.

Cons: Ridiculous RRP prices that they use to calculate your spending allowance. One cream could use it all up. I also think the P&P is too high at over £6. Far too much cardboard and packing materials. I used to save it up for a couple of months and do one order.

They also never give any freebies. No rewards for loyal customers. No attempt to hang on to me as a customer, too, when I cancelled.

I tried BP and some of the skincare products were very good but I found every few months I was spending £30-40 I didn’t need to, on top of the membership just to use my allowance. I only had the £5 membership. I cancelled as it was sucking me into spending more than I needed to. Clever marketing. The RRP are ridiculously inflated to be honest and it kind of annoyed me I was spending the membership fee, buying the products and then still having to pay postage. I’d rather not have paid postage than have a nice fancy pink branded box and products wrapped in tissue paper.

@penny14 your membership fee buys an allocated ‘allowance’ up to which you can spend. So if you let it build up to, say, £200 allowance, you can spend that in value BUT You buy the products on top of that, albeit at the discounted members’ price. I think it a ridiculous model. There are always stock shortages so if there’s a particular product you want, you have to wait for it to be back in stock. Also, if the product is expensive, that alone could wipe out your allowance.

I've been a member since the beginning. It used to be excellent value but the prices have increased a lot in the last year so it is no longer such a bargain. Some products are excellent ( eyeshadow sticks) and some are terrible ( the tinted primer which had a horrible scent or the eyeshadow palette with no pay off). I only pay £5 a month but am still a member until I use up or sell my allowance. The postage is about £3.50 NOT £6 and I don't think that's a problem. When postage is free it is absorbed into the prices. The way to save on postage is to make fewer, larger orders. It is a shame that the prices are no longer as transparent; there used to be a breakdown of costs for each product. The RRPs can be ridiculously inflated. They released reed diffusers at Christmas with an RRP that exceeded Jo Malone ones.

It was for these kind of reasons that I cancelled. It felt really inauthentic and a bit tacky.
