To ask you which the best epilator is? Buying one for daughter's Xmas present and never bought one before!

She's just announced she would love an epilator for Christmas - seems like a great idea but how do I chose?

Which one do you rate? And what do you like about it?

Any other advice gratefully received. Thanks!

I love my epilator and as mine is years old I'm looking at a new one.

I have a braun silk epil 3 and will upgrade to a silk epil 9 they are about £90 when they have an offer on amazon and get lots of different attachments such as skin spa.

Look for wet and dry, cordless and 40 tweezers as mine has 20 so is slow.

I had an old Braun silk epil and liked it but F* it hurt! I hear they've improved since then though.

On @cherrypiepie I've just had a look at the 9 and it looks much better - also like the multiple attachments as I couldn't cope with underarm or bikini line epilation Blush

It's on offer at Superdrug for £80 too 🙂

I have a Braun Silk-epil 8, it's fab. Bought it on offer from Costco last year, it was about £60 I think.

@PinGwyn I did my armpits for a holiday once. The pain!! I did them in separate days it was so painful. Also attempted bikini like like an utter fool!

To be fair the legs i don't feel anymore even with the old dry silk epil and the wet dry ones are allegedly more comfortable in the bath.

The trick is to shave the legs first and do it a week or so later so it's not too long!

I've been using epilators since the 1980s when the pain was excruciating !
I've now got a Braun Silk Epil 9 Flex and it's so much better.
I've always gritted my teeth and epilated my underarms - with this new one I can barely feel it, it's brilliant !

I have a Silk Epil 3 which is incredibly slow - it never even occurred to me that you could get them with more tweezers. I might have to upgrade to the 9. Just looked on amazon and they are £89.99.

Why did nobody tell me modern epilators are less painful??!!! I blame you all...

I tried one in the late 80s on my underarms and I thought I had been electrocuted. I tried it again a couple of years ago and now use a fairly old model of Epilady which isn't too bad. I am going to treat myself to a top notch one in the new year Grin

@evilharpy if you want a bit you might get a flash deal that comes with a few extras like a skin spa attachment for the same price

I've got the silk epil 5-511 which comes with a starter head. You're meant to move on to the normal head after 4 weeks but I tried it and that was too painful for me! With the starter head I can do my armpits and bikini line so I'm happy not to change it. www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-Silk-epil-Cordless-Epilation-Beginners/dp/B01N5W6VZO/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?dchild=1&c=ts&s=drugstore&ts_id=74080031&keywords=Epilators%20%26%20Accessories&_encoding=UTF8&qid=1608669261&sr=1-16&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I got the Braun facial spa which comes with a facial rotator head for exfoliation, which I love as much as the epilator. Great for keeping skin smooth in winter plus cheaper than buying exfoliators. At some point I will get a leg one. The first time you use it, that hurts the most, after that if you do it regularly it is not too bad.
