Those who have keratin straightening treatments - what shampoo do you use?

I've been using the Tresemmé shampoo in the red bottle, but I've just been to get another one and noticed they have slightly changed the packaging. The ingredients now list sodium chloride as an ingredient.

So, any recommendations for a sodium chloride free shampoo?

After going through hundreds of shampoo ingredient lists, I found the Sukin Protein Shampoo and Conditioner which do not include Sodium or SLS's Smile

I know this is an old discussion, but for any new people who stumbled on this and still looking for recommendations - you may want to check this new article which gives plenty on useful tips:

None of lush's shampoos have salt in (apart from the Ines that have it as a feature ingredient) and they use a lot of lemon which means I find them more clarifying than most. I tend to use daddy o (purple shampoo) every other wash, alternating with the organix keratin one (which causes build up if I use it every time)

Hey ladies,

I found this very useful keratin shampoo and aftercare guide. I hope this will answer your questions.

A lot of good info on what shampoo, and other products you can use to maintain your keratin treatment.

sainsburty's own kids shampoo cherry almond, sodium chloride free and smells lush. Boots naked have one thats free of it too but not all the range are so you would need to check. I have a shampoo and conditioner from Aphogee at the moment, lovely on my dry hair its actually aimed at afro hair but is so rich and smoothing with the conditioner and not extortionate. got it off amazon.

AwaY it's sodium chloride that you need to avoid with the keratin treatments.

I did a home keratin treatment 2 days ago and found it really difficult to use due to the fumes-but am hoping for good results when I wash tommorow.
I've bought the botanics shampoo and conditioner from boots..it doesn't seem to have any sulphates in but I might be wrong!

A quick update. This arrived today and I washed my hair with it this afternoon. It's lovely, smells nice, soft hair and a nice big bottle of it too.

Consumersucker - I definitely get the watering eyes, but not the hurting to breathe. I've just re-done mine for the third time, and I'm not as impressed with this time, although it is lovely to not use straighteners daily again for a while.

I use the keratin kits range shampoo and conditioner. It's the only shampoo without salt which actually lathers my hair, so you actually feel like you're getting it clean.

Have actually considered stopping using the treatment recently. My hair gets greasy really quickly now and also, my hair seems quite flat. A problem I never had before. Also, when I do the treatment, I feel like the chemicals are really harsh as they make my eyes water and it hurts when I breathe it in. Anybody else concerned with this?

I use the Daniel Galvin Jr brunette one, it's lovely. Would definitely recommend.

I found they made my hair feel a little dry happy, although it is prone to dryness anyway. Hopefully they will suit your hair well.

I've just ordered this shampoo. It looks lovely and I thought a bit of a bargain Grin.

I use Avalon organics tea tree shampoo from waitrose. It's £5.99. No sulfates. They do a lemony one too that looks nice. It's also great on my sometimes flaky scalp.

I tried the organix ones and found them awful. Couldn't bear to use up the bottle.

Thanks for looking fififolle.

I've just found this shampoo on Amazon. It's a bit pricey (I think) but I think I'll give it a go.

I've recently keratin treated my hair and have had the same problem that the Tresemme and Organix shampoos now include sodium chloride.

The only salt free shampoo I could find is the Dr Organic range in Holland and Barratt which is also SLS free. Unfortunately I came out in dandruff after using it and it leaves my hair limp. Not sure what the answer is. For the moment I am using my old Tresemme shampoo which I know will dissolve the keratin quicker.
