hi everyone. Back to the grind for me with slimming world. I have been heavy now a good number of years, last time I was at a weight I was happy with was around 4 years ago, but wasn’t my target weight. I managed to stick to it joining video meeting during lockdown until I became unwell.

Im finally ready to try again but have gained so much weight some of which will be due to steroids. I have about 6 stone to lose, I’m
my heaviest ever đŸ™ˆ

I started about 10 days ago and that coincided with me returning to work after a lengthy absence. Needless to say I had a terrible week foodwise. I miraculously lost 2lbs and I swear it has kicked my arse into gear big time. I have been so good every day and feel like I used to on this plan. It’s so easy once your head is in the game and the lack of hunger really helps. I know I’m going to lose this week and this will spur me on even more.

Anyone had to do big loses like 6 stone and how long did it take? I know we are all different but would appreciate some stories/successes of people who have been in the same boat!

Wow that’s amazing. What did you eat. And what Wright /size were you at start and end

I started out at 18st 4lbs in the May, and dropped down to 12st 12lbs by the beginning of December, a loss of 76lbs. Primarily I cut out all processed foods, breads, junk food etc, greatly reduced carbs and stuck to a high protein diet. Ideally my daily dieted consisted of things like 0% fat yoghurt, chicken, ham, eggs, as much fruit or veg as I wanted. Drinking tea, coffee, and sugar free fizzy. Generally I only consumed 800-1k calories a day, which is very low, but it works for me. I dropped from a XXXL to a Medium and I can't begin to explain how much of a buzz that gave! People just didn't, and still don't recognise me.

Keeping active is a major bonus too, because it helps so much with the psychology as it takes my mind off food. Usually I would be sat down most of the day, which is ideal for eating snacks and junk food. I have to break the habitual lifestyle, get up, get out and avoid temptation of grazing on crisps, nuts, cakes etc. Also, never ever bring any bad foods into the house. If it's in the house, cupboards etc, I will eat it! So, say to my wife, please no junk food in the house, and it works.

Since putting some weight back on over the past 5 months (26lbs), I have gone back on the diet. In the last 3 weeks I have dropped from 14st 10lbs down to 14st 2lbs, a loss of 10lbs.

I lost 5.5 stone in 7 months (May 2021 - Dec 2021). I started out by joining slimming world for 12 weeks and then just carried on by myself for the next 4 months. I have since put on 1.5st over 6 months but about to get started on a diet to get back to my lowest weight. Good luck with you diet, you can do it!

Another tip is that I decided to start 'being fabulous now'. Before I'd lost anything, I started looking after my skin my hair, using nice body lotion after my bath, painting my nails, wearing the earrings, getting my hair coloured and just generally being a bit more 'fabulous' than the occasion required each day. It just gave me a kick start and energised me emotionally. People started telling me I looked great before I'd lost much which gave me the motivation to keep going. It works!

I lost 4.5 stone about 20 years ago. It took me 2 years but I did it very slowly and took a break to maintain the weightloss every few months. I could have done it faster but I got burnt out a few times.

I'm pleased to say that I've pretty much kept it off. In 2015 I gained 4.5 stone with my first baby and had 4 stone off by 18 months, when I got pregnant again! When baby number 2 was 1, I was just 1/2 stone heavier than I was at my very lowest, which was probably too low anyway.

Just had baby number 3 and am 1 stone off target but breastfeeding does something to my system and makes me hold onto fat! Getting there though!

It is totally doable. Having a long term and short term targets helps. Break it into 12 half stone chunks and remember, even if the scale is going down slowly, or not going down at all some weeks, it's better than the scale going up. Ad long as your overall trend is downwards then don't lose hope and trust the process.

You need a saying to keep in your mind to keep you going. I used to think 'that lower weight is waiting for me. I just have to do my part and it will happen'.

I'm 3 stone down, but have another 2/3 to go. Joined September last year. Not bothered if it takes me a while, so long as weight is going down and not up.

I am just coming up to a 6 stone loss, hopefully within a couple of weeks, and that’s taken me just over 11 months. My BMI was 49 at the start though. Have also lost about 8.5 inches off my waist.
