We’re thinking about merging this section, what do you think?

Hi all,
We’re doing some work on making the Talk boards more useful and user-friendly for both regular and new users. After looking at some stats for the site, we think we could boost activity on the whole by merging some of the lesser used sections.
We’re proposing to fold the topics in this section into the Weight loss chat area.
This should increase the number of topics in the section - and hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.

Although I do I think there are far too many subsections on Mumsnet, in this instance I'd prefer you didn't merge as when I'm on SW I don't want to read about other plans and systems for weight loss. If i want general weight loss advice there is a topic for that I think?

hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.
More posts and responses aren't useful though if they're from people disagreeing with or not understanding the SW plan, as others have said above.
I think you definitely need to keep a separate section for each of the major weight loss methods/plans

As soon as there’s a slimming world post on other boards they get hijacked by people criticising slimming world and misinformation.
Some posts on this board might not get huge amounts of responses, but quite often they’re fairly simple questions that only have one right answer...

I'd prefer it to be kept separate, I have the other weight loss sections hidden because I'm only interested in SW. That thing of people criticising it without understanding it is very true too.
As for posting more - well if anything you'd be more likely to miss new SW threads is they were in amongst all the other weight loss threads. I keep a lot of topics hidden, including AIBU, so my Most Active is slow moving which means I see most threads in the topics which do interest me, and it is finely tuned to my interests, please stop merging sections or this won't work. If Weight Watchers threads start popping up in my Most Active because the sections have been merged I'm not going to suddenly start posting on those, so I really can't see how it would help.
