Slimming World & Avocados

I have around 1 1/2 - 2 stone to lose and I am doing it in preparation for IVF. I have done slimming world before and liked it but the problem now is avocado are a very fertility friendly food so much so that I’ve been having 1/2 for breakfast every day. But I’ve heard it’s massive in syns.. has anyone done slimming world while treating avocado as a free food and still lost weight? Or would I just need to syn it and do slimming world with no other syns or treats - so I feel like I won’t succeed!!! Any thoughts? Has anyone else done SW for IVF/Infertility.

I just count 8 Syns for the avocado & don’t eat other syns. I’m not having avocado every day but I am eating it.

Are you eating Quinoa, lentils, spinach, blueberries & oysters- which are all free foods and fertility boosting?

I have never heard of a SW claim that avocados and chocolate bars are nutritionally equal: what an odd idea.

You know what I mean. Same syn value. Ridiculous.

Iceland frozen avocado halves are nice.

I love avocado but rarely actually eat, despite being at target. I buy them... they aren't ripe so I end up wasting them because I eat them. Tend to eat them eating out instead.

So once you're thin you can eat 'em, basically! I love avocados but sadly will have to wait 👍

I think the reason why it is synned is because people often have it crushed and on toast, and it is then very easy to eat a whole avocado at once.

I’ve just reached my goal and I’ve been given the new 12 week booklet. In this it says that as I can now have more healthy extras and syns that good fats like avocado are a good option.

avocados are great nutritionally but as pp say contain a lot of calories. so it doesn't surprise me that they have a lot of syns compared with other vegetables.

eat them if you like them, but be aware of that.

Just syn the avocado?
The reason they syn it is because it’s so high in fat (yes yes, I know it’s good fats but it’s still fats)
Slimming world is a low fat eating plan, they have never compared eating it to a chocolate bar Hmm
You may be fine eating it in moderation, it’s just a lot of people don’t realise how calorie dense it is and would eat loads and wonder how they aren’t losing weight, so they have to syn it.

I've lost 5.5st with SW and eat avocado

It's not high in syns but it is high in fat, yes it's healthy fat but it's still easy to over eat so I do count it. There's roughly 1 syn per 10g of flesh so it's really not a lot.

This is why I couldn’t really take sw seriously. Just eat the avocado and stay on rest of plan-treat it as free. You didn’t put on the weight eating avocado.

Because I'm a target member, I use savvy syns to have avocado/olives etc. Having healthier but high good fats instead and either maintain or lose weight.

Up to 1/2 an avocado a day, I've never counted (ie a 'normal' portion) but then again I don't count cooked fruit/smoothied fruit if it's an amount I'd eat whole.

Slimming Worlds idea that a bar of chocolate is equal nutritionally to an avocado really annoys me. I wouldn't count it.

I think 1/4avocado is 4 syns so not that much. Is it the omega 3s that are the healthy thing? If that's the case, oily fish, including tinned mackerel and sardines will do the same thing.
