All I need....

So I have been taking 1 Citalopram 20mg per day, since Christmas and over that time I have put on I guess 2 stone...

Went to the Drs and she referred me to the nurse for weighing etc and possibly to go on Xenical and if I have lost weight I can also have some vouchers for Slimming World. Well that was the idea, I started at 18s.10lb on 3/8 and today was my first weigh in and I'm 19.14.

They wont let me have it because I have put on weight and not lost it, fair enough.

I have lost all sense of what is good and healthy, things to cook etc

All I need is someone to write me out a meal plan for a week and I will follow it to the letter, just to get back in the swing of things....

I feel so bloody fat and useless

So I went back on Tuesday and I had lost 4lb, nurse was very happy and has given me the tablets. I worte evry thing that passed my lips down, that was interesting, it helps to stop you putting extras in.

I usually get to this stage, then start sabotaging myself, so have to work hard at combating that feeling.

Hopefully I will drop a dress size or two by Christmas

I have to lose 2lbs, which sounded easy!, then they will give me vouchers and these Xenical tablets (I do have an old packet which I have started to use)

Sounds like you're in the 'right zone' Greenkit. I think religiously writing down everything you eat and drink can make a huge difference especially if like me you can be a mindless eater.
Loads of veg with each meal and fruit and veg for snacks are great.
Being part of a group seems to help most people following SW.
Could you get vouchers if you lose some weight now?

One thing I have found helpful is trying not to buy pre made meals. It is a little thing but can make a big difference.
How are you at drinking lots of water? Not being dehydrated can make a big difference to choices you make about food
Try to cut down on salt as well- it can make you sluggish and bloated, but also triggers a craving for sweet to counter balance it.
If you want to follow SW then pour things like your healthy milk allowance into a pot at the start of the day-I used to use an old milk bottle from the DC
Baked beans on toast can really help to kick off the day, with a scraping of vegemite on the toast for the B vitamins and to give them a kick.

Are you managing a walk every day?

Also, to add to what mevamagissey has told you above,

  • speed foods are most fruit and veg, but not fruit that has been cooked or blended
  • the meat has to be lean, ie no visible fat
  • the bread choice has to be wholemeal and can be one large slice or two small
  • you can have 30g cheddar or 250ml semi skimmed milk

OP, I really feel for you Flowers I was on citalopram for a couple of years and within the first three months I put on two stone and went up two dress sizes. I don't know if it's that it makes you hungrier or that it stops you from caring what you eat, but it's evil stuff. I'd highly recommend trying a different AD.
It's well worth joining slimming world yourself - it's cheaper than gym membership and it really gives you motivation. Also it's useful to be able to ask questions and have the support. It is quite a straightforward diet once you get the hang of it but you do need to understand it properly for it to work well.
Good luck!
