Hi,
I know there are some archived threads on this but I couldn't find the answers I wanted. We have four kids, and dd refused to travel in the boot so we need to swap our fiesta for soemthing slightly bigger.

I've seen a Nissan Terrano I really like at a bargain price, but I'm worried abt the boot space. I don't want to go all the way to see it (and prob fall in love with it) if it isn't suitable. Does anyone know if the boot is big enough to fit a double buggy in?

Alternatively, we're quite keen on the Honda Stream - any opinions?

we have recently bought a fiat ulysses! Great 8 seater mpv and very nice to drive. I am a childminder and mine easily fits a double buggy (not umberella style) in the boot along with shopping but you do have to be organised. We actually keep one seat out which means i can still fit 5 kids in back and also a 3 wheeler single plus double buggy in. Very cheap to run, tank takes about £60 of diesel but that lasts me a month easily. Ours is an 01 plate and cost £3500.

Recently traded up to a Piccasso and I think it is great. This weekend we needed to move some furniture, which would have been unthinkable with my old little Toyota (reliable little run about), and easily removed two of the back seats to fit in three stacking chairs, five flat folding chairs, three flat folding chairs, cool box and other bits with room to spare without removing the parcel shelf. Other years we have had to hire a van. It is also more economical (averaging 45.6mpg according to the car) than I would have expected, nice to drive and passenger airbag can be deactivated so you can take a child in the front.

I was shocked looking for a used car (Picasso is nearly three years old) that dealers said OK with child in forward facing car seat/booster and passenger airbag, and one even said use with a lap belt although car seat instructions said 3-point. I don't regularly travel with a child in the front but wanted to be able to take four children out for the day (how do you say to one you can't take your friend but your sister can?).

gosh, don't fill it up much, left that to dh. i think it's about £45-£50 to completley fill it up! i'll check with dh and if i'm way off i'll message back.

I just read all these replies that came, after I shut down the computer - I didn't think anyone was going to reply cos it dropped off active convos!

We bought a terrano in the end. It is a 4 x 4, but is a 7 seater. I think vicki is right and we won't get our jane in with the seats up, so I mgiht have to invest in somethign like a duolite for when we are all in it. Most of the week it will be jsut me and the kids once I've actually got my licence! dp can walk to work fortunately.

We really liked the stream, but was worried it wouldn't be big enough as the kids get older. Plus, with a 2 year old and 4 year old in the back I wanted soemthing strong, as the seats tend to be so far back.

We were looking at mpvs on ebay the other day and noticed that the nissan serena has good boot space even with all the seats up.

we have a mazda mpv - it has a huge boot and sliding doors for the back passengers - big bonus !

Like the galaxy all 5 back seats are removable. If you remove one back seat you can fit in a double mountain buggy laying down.

We regularly have us, 3 kids (all in childseats), medium size dog, 2 grandparents and all our gear in it

yes we have a 6 seater honda shuttle, they come in 7 seaters too. Its a great car.

We have a Toyota Previa, which has loads of boot space, but we found all the other MPV's that we looked at didn't, like the Nissan Serena, Mitsubishi Spacewagon, the Galaxy, and the Zafira. I'm afraid I haven't seen the two models you mentioned though.

And when I say no boot space I mean not enough room for the shopping and a buggy too, don't mind luggage for holidays.

i ve had a nissan terrano and it really depends on the size of your buggy when folded. i would say an umbrella fold one would be ok or the fold flat ones like the twin aria, but something like a twin mountain buggy probably not!

lou33 has a 7-seater Honda, I think hers is the older one (the Shuttle?) and she likes that!

Isn't the Terrano more of a 4x4 than a people carrier?
