faux leather - does it make your child sweaty???

Hello!

I've found a new pushchair which I'm thinking of buying (the new Maclaren Ryder \link{http://baby2travel.co.uk/Maclaren_Ryder.htm} - I'd be getting the chestnut brown colour. However, it has faux leather seats - do any of you have carseats/pushchairs with this kind of seat and if so does it make your child's legs sweaty and uncomfortable when it's hot? Thank you!

(By the way, if anyone has actually seen the Ryder I'd also appreciate your opinion on what it's like as only one place seems to stock it in the UK at the moment and that's mailorder. Mothercare won't have it till August and I need it now as my current pram is broken.)

TIA x

Yes, absolutely beautiful. The most divine pram I've ever seen, however, unfortunately Maclaren seem to have got their figures wrong and it is the same height as the Techno XT! So have sent it back. A lovely pram for those not as Vertically challenged as I!!!

Sorry Vickiyumyum, no it's for a 13 month old, so it feels like a justified expense, particularly as we walk nearly everywhere and I'll have it for another two years or so.

It was either that or the Techno and the price of the Ryder and seat disguise ends up around the same price as the Techno anyway (give or take £10). Please don't tell me that I could have got the Techno for about 10p on Kiddicare as this will completely destroy this piece of self-trickery! Sorry Vickiyumyum to encourage you further, but the woman I spoke to on the phone said the brown is divine and another shop I spoke to said that they had four in and they flew off the shelves - the carbon colour is apparently harder to shift. This is either true or the brown is so hard to shift that the staff have been forced to hype it up, but they sounded very genuine...almost passionate in their praise for it which made me want it all the more!

prams/buggies all fine and dandy when they are working like they should but as soon as you get one with a problem, no one wants to take responisbility, shop, manufacturer etc. when will they realise we spend a lot of our hard earned cash on these things and expect them to do the job they were made for.

anyway thats probably a whole new thread.

Ellaroo is this buggy for a toddler? buggies are so expensive, but lets not go there as my buggy obsession has cost me fortune. i'm sure i could have brought a car by now for the amount that i have spent!

oh i don't have anything against the price vickyumyum! (i paid £550 for ds's pram!)

but I wouldn't spend that much only to have to buy mroe stuff to cover up the seat because i didn't like it!!!!

I DO see your logic ellaroo... not sure i'd have bought one myself, but hope it's fab when you get it!

good on you ellaroo. thats why they make pushchairs in somemany different shapes and colours, so that there is something out there for everyone.
Starlover many people pay way more than £100 for a buggy, some people beleive you get what you pay for!

Starlover - good question. Because I want a Maclaren (don't know why just think they are well made and so haven't bothered looking at anything else) and it is the only Maclaren that has lower handles than the Techno, but bigger wheels than the Quest and I love the colour brown! Yes, my dh was equally confused, but there is definitely some logic in there somewhere. I have ordered one today anyway, so thank you for your encouragement Vickiyumyum!

i think it'll get all sticky and gross too.

So why spend over £100 on it????????

Vickiyumyum, I had a friend who bought a Jane Powertrack (over £300) when her son was 3, as it was going to be her last child and therefore last ever pram and when the Jane came out she knew she'd always regret it if she didn't own it for a couple of months!!!

yes, pvc. Why??? What possessed them to take a perfectly lovely buggy and do that to it? I can imagine it becoming Super Nanny's equivalent of the Naughty Step on a hot day. Sheep liner is a good idea though and will cover up weird crocodile effect.

i think that it looks fab and had been trying to get hold of one since last year, but they were out of stock everywhere, so brought a techno and then a mamas and papas pulse. so i am deeply jealous if you get one!
also another reason not to get it is ds2 is almost 3 so not worth it now.

Faux leather is actually plastic so yes, sweaty!

However if you got a sheepskin buggy liner it would solve that problem.

Vickiyumyum, no they are not in stock yet apart from one place that Maclaren told me about called Nursery to Leisure (0121 532 1951) - I think about £119. Am pleased to have another positive opinion - I could not decide whether the moc croc was truly hideous or not. However, the main reason I want it is that the handles are lower than on the Techno and it has bigger wheels than the quest and it is brown - my favourite colour! Good luck selling your pram.

just had a lookat it on the website. it looks like a nice buggy, but is it in stock yet?
my friend ahd a mothercare leather pushchair to match her leather carseat and the car!! imo the baby always got a bit sweaty on a hot day, but then if they are in buggies of a dark colour thwy do anyway.

this looks like nice buggy and if i was you and it is in stock i would buy it! (desperatley want to buy it but as trying to sell off my buggy collection before dh divorces me i'd better not)

Yes, we had that in a Morris Minor! Maclaren claim it is very soft faux leather....but I still wonder...and worry...
