it must be the time for washing machines to give up the ghost. ours started making a terrible noise when spinning, like an aeroplane taking off. got the nice man out & the drum bearings have gone, would cost £150 to mend. errr, i don't think so (only cost £200 new....). so we've got a nice new reliable bosch coming on tuesday - my MiL will be pleased as i can stop using her washing machine....

This happened to me last month - caused by limescale!. Does the motor still hum and does the drum move during the rest of the wash cycle? If it was just the spin cycle that stopped then it is a blockage and should be fairly easy to clear yourself. If the motor isn't humming or moving the drum at all then you are probably looking at a pricey repair .

I haven't got that make but mine died this week two. The motor timer went, something to do with it telling the motor when to spin and it would ahve cost £150 to repair

If you haven't got the manual - or you have, but it isn't possible to sort out the pump yourself - you need to get a bucket, take the drain hose from the back of the machine, hold the bucket as low as poss and point the hose into it and keep doing that (bucket will keep filling and have to be emptied) until no more comes out - then you will be able to open the door and get the things out and finish off manually.

Good luck

Quite often this happens because the pump is blocked (eg with coin or hairgrip). Have you got the manual that tells you how to check?
