Has anyone seen a waterproof jacket in the shops? I spotted a girl wearing a Next one (so I asked her mum where it was from) but they've sold out. I don't have time to go into town on a big search so wondered if anyone could tell me where they've bought one from. I've only time to nip in and out of town quickly this week and I'd really like one for this weekend when we're away. I'm more than happy to buy off the Net too.

Cheers!

Are you wanting a proper coat/jacket or just a plastic, waterproof type thing?

If the latter I got 2y DD a waterproof (plastic) coat in lilac/transparent with butterfly motifs for £3.50 from B Wise. It has airholes under arms and a decent sized hood. It comes to about knees, maybe a little higher.

I had never been in the shop before but Dd spotted it in the window. Seemed such a bargain I couldn't really say no. It folds to nothing so is ideal for throwing at the bottom of a bag, to take on holiday, etc.

We got the sluglet a pink one at John Lewis, that packs down on itself into a bag (like an anorak) I can't tell you how much it cost because the ever doting MIL bought it.

Or are you near a Millets - they should do something you could use?!

I needed just the same thing for my dds aged 6 and 4 and got them from eBay for £3 and £5. Perfect! Saved a lot of hassle trawling the shops!

Best thing I can suggest is see if you can find someone who sells Elle coats (I have bought from shop in Tunbridge Wells via net) - otherwise House of Fraser etc seem to do. They are lovely and soft/fleecy inside and rain proof on the outside. My DD has had two as I think they are fab. The neg is that they are not cheap.

I don't know whether this is any help, but I bought one for ds yesterday at a local designer shop - one that I don't normally enter because their prices are outrageous, but if you can find one with a sale on at the moment you may find a bargain. Ds's new coat is lovely, red with a grey light fleece lining, french designer reduced from £49 to £15!!
