Do I need a double buggy or can I manage with just 1?

I have just found out I am due dc2 in May (yay). Dc1 will be 2 years 3 months by the due date. We have a bugaboo cameleon and a mcclaren, do you think I should buy a double buggy or can I manage with one buggy and a buggy board? We're not struggling financially but I don't want to spend money on a double buggy if I don't need it.

I have 21 month gap between my 2. I have one of these
which i use for walking locally and long trips out with the car. i LOVE it. (i did post a review on kiddicare but I cant find it now)

I also use my single maclaren & babysling or
reins depending who is in the buggy,for most car journeys, town centre shopping etc.

DS1 is a lazy wot not & still has daily naps, so needs to be able to sleep in buggy. I also dont think his coordination & concentration are matue enough for him to use a buggy board for too long.

My friend has slightly bigger age gap, her DD doesnt sleep in daytime any longer so she has taught her to ride one of those microscooters & does the sling thing too when DD is too tired or they go somewhere busy.

I have 17 months only between mine and the P&T was a godsend. Now that DS2 is nearly 11months and DD getting on for 2.5 she likes to walk a lot more and the P&T is used as a single more often than not. I think it's the buggy of choice for a baby and toddler because of it's versatility. There is now the OBaby version as well which is much cheaper than the P&T.

I may be selling a Zoom though, only used for a few weeks, if you want to CAT me?

My DS2 was 2.3 when DS3 wasborn was born and I ummed and ahhed about this.

So glad I got a double one as DS2 still gets tired and when we are doing the school run in the morning we need to be quick and DS2 has a very slow toddler pace.

We went out for a walk today and DS2 walked with me for a bit but then popped in for a sleep, theres no way I could have carried him.

I luckily got a first wheels city twin with basonette and all the trimmimgs from a local baby shop for £200 because he was bringing in the latest model and I also got the single brand new version off ebay for £105.

I'm also in the camp of trying to do without. My DD will be 23 months when new baby arrives. DD hates being in the pushchair and is only ever in there for 'restraint' purposes IYKWIM. She NEVER asks to go in there. I plan to get a really good sling to begin with and when the younger one is too big for that, he can go in the pushchair and DD will hopefully be OK on the buggyboard. Might be wishful thinking.

I have the same age gap and couldn't manage without the phil and ted. Oldest child gets very stroppy when tired and I like to walk to and from nursery etc. We got a good deal (150 off full package double seat and cocoon etc) on the lurid blue sport on kiddicare. I am having a problem with bits continually dropping off it though.

I only ever had a single buggy. Carried younger child in a sling or later a backpack and pushed older child. Dd1 was 2 when ds born, ds 22 months when dd2 born.

We ummed and erred. My initial intention was to try and manage without, but then I discovered that you can't use a buggyboard on our Buzz anyway, or at least not with the carrycot or rear-facing, then someone also reminded me that as DS2 is due in 7 weeks, it will in fact be wet and cold for most of the time we'd need it. He always wants his pushchair when it's raining so that sealed the deal.

So we've got ourselves a Phil and Teds, reassured by the outstanding resale value on ebay, and are (trying to) sell the Buzz to recoup some of the cost.

DS is already excited about going in the Vibe with him on top and baby underneath.

18 months between dd and ds1 and 2.6 years between ds1 and ds2 and i've never had a double

There is 21 months between my ds's and we managed with a buggy board but I think if I had my time again I'd buy a twin.

We coped but there were times when it was really hard persuading DS1 to walk or stand on the buggy board.

I walk a lot, so I guess I will need a double buggy. I liked the look of the zoom twin pushchair but I haven't researched it yet. And it is quite expensive...

I'd sell the bugaboo and get a phil and teds . i just bought a (2nd hand] P&Ts and I wish I'd just bought one in the first place, but you arent generally thinking about doubles when you're pg with your first. DS is 2.6 and DS2 is due in 8 wks. I will be taking DS2 to nursery and theres no way he's doing that journey on foot!!

depends as has been said how much you walk? if alot then yes it would be a good buy, i have 18m between my two and i vainly thought we could use a board, no hope!! DS2 was only 18m and so i used a double every day til he was 3yr old so 18m really then a buggy board daily for another 3m at 3.5yr he walks pretty much all the time but i have two singles so if out all day we take two.

Yes! Get a double buggy - just a cheapie that you can keep in the car for shopping trips etc. You might even get one on freecycle. Don't know about having a double from birth though, on some pushchairs babies have to be 3 months unless they are in a tandem (yuk - crap to push about and a nightmare on kerbs) but

I would get one if you use the buggy a lot.
If you drive most places and your DC is a good walker now then wait until new baby arrives and order one then if needed, but I'd bet that you will find it a lot easier with one.
I had same age gap and DS1 didnt get the hang of a buggy board for a good 6 months ish after DS2 was born. Double buggy was a godsend. Ds1 still napped and could sleep in buggy but not on a board!

There are 20 months between ds and dd and a buggy board was okay some of the time but not good if ds was either tired or in a strop which was often the case after say, a trip to the park. I guess it depends quite a bit on the temperament of your eldest. I'd be inclined to think a double will be useful, if sometimes not needed and a PITA
