A pushchair my baby will sleep in - which one?

Hi

I have a mountain buggy swift which was a great choice based on all my requirements (needed air tires as I have to bump it up 15 steps to my house, suitable from newborn, great for off road, and folds up compactly and easily).

However, my baby (now 6 months) will not sleep more than 30 minutes in it. Doesn’t matter if I use a full blackout shade, white noise, keep walking… she wakes after 30 minutes.

I wondered if a more padded and comfortable lie flat seat buggy might help. I don’t need the off road capability of the MB for some day trips where it would really help for her to catch an hour nap out and about.

I was thinking the M&P armadillo flip or flip xt2? Do these have comfy seats for tall babies? Do they fold up small? Could I bump them up and down 15 steps?

My baby takes great naps in my cosatto giggle. She's the same only takes 30 mins in the out n about. But 2 hours in the giggle! It's like a newborn bassinet so looks very comfy with raised sides to feel secure.

My Little One is sleeping well in the Kinderkraft Everyday travel system. It has a large carrycot with a soft mattress, so my daughter feels comfortable. I got it from my sister in Poland, I'm not sure if it is available yet.

@Caspianberg yeah i got a cosy toes - not a sheepskin one - and it's certainly softer and comfier but she's still resisting. it might just be developmental but I figure as I'm going to buy second hand, I might as well give it a try and if it doesn't work, then I can sell it on.

Also, for our swift we have a sheepskin footmuff. The top comes off when warmer so it’s just a liner. Means it’s super cosy. And in winter you just add the top bit and it’s lovely and warm

Honestly i would go for an umbrella fold. I've got the silver Cross reflex. It's amazing. Light weight, easy to steer, lies flat for naps, well padded, and the hood can come right down and over them. Bit pricier but is more spacious than a lot of umbrella folds. Worth every penny.

I will take a look - an umbrella gold would be convenient for being out and about. does it have a good hood cover to keep them shady?

It's really not the pushchair.
You could spend £££ on a different pushchair that is less suitable for your needs and baby will still air after 30 minutes.
It's a normal part of their sleep development.
You'd be better off posting in the sleep section for advice on it.

she is sleep trained and can connect sleep cycles in the cot at home - it's just out and about in the pram so I just wondered if the pram wasn't as comfortable for her needs. I can do the same conditions she has at home - black out cover, white noise etc, but she stirs at 30 minutes even if she's had the same wake window she would have at home. And then she's a hot mess after so I was hoping that a more comfy pram (as the MB swift is quite a basic seat) might help her feel more able to sleep. Do you think a different buggy still wouldn't help?

I have the Armadillo Flip XT, btw. No it doesn't fold up small and you couldn't bump it up 15 steps.
It's an old one so the XT2 might be different but I don't find mine particularly easy to push or particularly good for rough terrain.
I actually bought a Bugaboo Fox 2 instead! Very comfortable seat but naps are still variable.
It's pretty much inevitable that baby will nap much better in their cot than out and about once they are old enough to be a bit more aware of their surroundings.

We have mountain swift. Ds never slept more than 30 ish mins in pram at 6 months. He’s now 1 year and will do 2hrs in cot, and if we are out and about will sleep 2hrs in the swift also.
I think it was just his age.

You can fold it up with it attached! It just won't click shut kind of thing. It's really easy to take on and off.

@ivykaty44 I don’t know for sure no. I don’t know anyone i could borrow a pram from unfortunately. All I know is she sleeps great in her cot at home, used to sleep fab in her sling (too nosey now) and the MB swift is quite a basic seat and quite narrow so I’m presuming (perhaps wrongly) that she’s just not that comfy.

With all my original requirements there was always going to be a compromise on comfort but I’m now thinking that a 2nd pushchair for days when I want to be out all day would go better if she could sleep. She’s so crabby after 30 minute naps and I don’t want to be locked to the house so she naps in her cot.

@MistyFrequencies any idea what Quinny model that was? Whatever I buy will be 2nd hand so I can keep a look out for things coming up for sale if I know the model.

@MsChatterbox Ooooh it looks lovely. Can you fold it up with the seat unit on or do you have to remove the seat? What’s it like for folded size? glad I’m not the only one who has short naps in one pram and not another

Mine slept well in their Quinny. They were expensive but we bought 2nd hand cheap enough and used for two kids, it's just given up now and youngest is 3 yrs. It's padded and lays flat and the foot but is adjustable.
