Side by side duo's, baby and toddler - mountain buggy? Donkey? Help!!

Hello all,

I'm expecting dc2 next spring when my DD1 will be 16 months.

I'm already thinking about side by side double buggies !!

I've looked at the

Mountain buggy duet
Bugaboo donkey duo
Love n care twingo

(I'm not sold on the double buggies where the children sit one in front of the other , as I feel the older child would end up facing inwards with another buggy in front of her, which she'd hate)!!

We have a cabriofix car seat barely used from DD1 which I'll use for DC2,so if this is compatible that is a bonus !

The widest wheels that will fit through my door 74cm due to rain guard at the base of door. Higher up the door I'd get away with 79 ish width....

If I want to have DD1 facing out and dc2 (initially) in carry cot/car seat- I think the bugaboo is too wide isn't it ? Bugaboo donkey looks very versatile but also the most cumbersome and I can't be doing with not fitting through doors!

The twingo looks GREAT but difficult to source in the uk?

Lastly the mountain buggy looks great... only drawback is that when dc2 starts objecting to/ outgrowing carry cot (happened at 4.5m with DD1) they'd have to go outward facing - pushchair seats not reversible. Does seem a bit young. DD1 still in inward facing pushchair at 8m.

Have a missed any models here?

Does anyone have any of the above that they use with baby and toddler , and willing to share pros and cons?

Thanks so much ones Smile

MB all the way. Carrycot transforms into a parent facing seat, you click a car seat on it easy and smooth and the air filled tyres are actually the best thing that ever happened to me. They are just so much more comfortable to push than solid ones.

The fold is a lot smaller than Donkey and it's lighter as well. I think though that Duet gets a bit wider with car seat but maybe 65-66cm. Not a lot. There hasn't been a door we didn't fit through.

I'd surely get the Mountain Buggy, it has so many features including the transforming carrycots... If something cheaper, I'd look at something like a Baby Jogger City Mini Double/Double GT. Takes two car seats, and instead of carrycots, I would use baby nests/insert carrycots... Not too expensive and quite practical.

I had the double out n about nipper and I absolutely loved it. I don't think it takes a car seat so that might rule it out for you but it was an absolute joy to push. I used it for a newborn and an almost three year old (who refused to walk anywhere). There is a new mini version which is smaller again so easier to fit through spaces.

I looked at the mountain buggy after seeing some great reviews on here- I asked to see it folded up, and it was just too big to get into the boot of my car. The recline mechanism also seemed a bit fiddly, but maybe people who have used it day to day won’t have found it too bad.

The Donkey is just massive isn’t it? It gets a great Which review but it is very heavy and very wide, so practicalities like does it fit through your front door will be more relevant.

Great tip!! Ah I didn't realise it had air tyres - this must be the kind I've seen a local mum bouncing up stairs without a pick of bother !

Mountain buggy is great! Get a spare inner tube for the wheels and keep that and a pump under the buggy though as we had a puncture one time.

Looks like the mountain buggy is 63cm side even with car seat or carry cot on. Also just discovered they have " carrycot plus ", a carry cot that can be out on an incline for extended use with older babies.

Think I've just answered my own question.

So the width of bugaboo donkey with one car seat on top is 84cm ... too wide for my door.

Any mountain buggy duet duo users on here that could share the widest point of the system when using one car seat / carry cot ? Struggling to find online !

Thank you x
