Anyone washed a Phil and Teds Cocoon?

Got a second hand Phil and Teds cocoon. Looks immaculate but obviously want to clean it. Anyone washed one and how?

I washed it by hand and it was very tedious!

You could do it in a bathtub or laundry sink. Hot water with lots of gentle or sensitive, hypoallergenic laundry liquid, and thoroughly sponge it all over.

They absorb a huge amount of water so you'll then need a large bucket or tub to carry it outside to drip dry, or put a clothes horse in the bathtub and rest the wet cocoon upside down to drip dry.

Remember the base and part of the sides have hard plastic so if you don't leave it upside down the water won't run out.

The cocoon was one of our best and favourite purchases with DC so absolutely worth the effort of washing.

I took us our second hand cacoon to a laundrette and put it in their biggest machine. Cost about z fiver but was definitely worth it. They really do absorb a huge amount of water, it was so heavy getting it home and took she's to dry.

I second how useful the cacoon is, poor ds1 and dd2 got carted and plonked everywhere in it!

I don't think it would fit in my washing machine, which is pretty small. You could give it a go. I wouldn't know if the stuffing would bunch up.

@Boomerang same!! We bought a Phil and Ted's stroller too and the cocoon would just sit inside it while we were out. It fit in the bassinet too and DC lived in it.

When you put the cocoon in the buggy, did you face towards you or away from you?

Also how did you stop the cocoon sides collapsing inwards over the baby?

In the stroller (buggy), head away from me so I could pull the shade up if she fell asleep. And I just tucked the handles down the side between cocoon and inside walls of stroller - initially we had worried that the sides would fall down and in, and our stroller had a handle bar thing that could be clipped across the middle of the bed part where the baby lay and we had thought we'd need to clip the cocoon handles through the handle bar clips so they held the sides of the cocoon up. Turned out not necessary at all, sides of the cocoon never fell in once, except I guess when baby wasn't in it. If you're worried about it, buy some of those big clips people use to hold a muslin cloth over the buggy to stop baby looking out/people peeking in, and clip the handles to something secure when baby is in the cocoon, to hold the sides out.

This is very close to the stroller we had. The cocoon fits easily into it (this style is the 'bassinet' attachment for baby to lie in) and the bar across the bassinet part removes and clips in, so possible to remove it, loop the cocoon handles over where the bar clips to the bassinet, and clip the handles to the bassinet so they don't fall down. By the time baby was ready to want to face forward and look at the world instead of the person pushing them, we had probably outgrown the cocoon, but the cocoon and baby could face either direction, just it worked for us that way.

Yes when I tried it in the buggy (no baby to put in it yet) it kind of caved in on itself, but guess it will be ok once there’s a baby / blankets inside

I think by baby number 3 I didn't bother with a laundrette, I bent it and shoved it in my (reasonably large) machine. Twas fine. They are great and super handy, our never folded in.
