New Maclaren Quest Sport model (some old models on offer on Pramworld!)

It looks like Maclaren have updated some of their models (quest, techno St and triumph) from a quick look. Here is the Quest www.johnlewis.com/maclaren-quest-sport-pushchair-charcoal-blue/p2291099 on the John Lewis site.

Has anybody heard about this? I'm struggling to find info. Obviously it looks different, I compared an old and new model on John Lewis there is a slight weight difference and the new one has removable wheels and is compatible with car seats (I think this last one is a bad thing).

I think the hood looks bigger, it looks like it covers more this is my obsession, I would hate to get the old model if the new one has more coverage or is expandable. Is there any info available?

The hood on that new Quest is definitely a different shape, but I don't think it will offer any more shade than the hood on the current model (which I have, and also had an original one from 2006). If you want more coverage you need a hood like the one on the Techno XT (which I also had, but swapped for the second Quest as I thought the Techno XT was too big to be a second 'keep in the car' pram) which can be unzipped and extended downwards.

And also I'm a bit Xmas Shock at the price! When I bought my first Quest in 2006 it was £90 full price in Mothercare and I paid £80 for it on special offer. The only significant change since then has been that it's been made suitable from birth (my 2006 one was 3 months) and the design of the brakes is better. But I can't see the reason for such a big price hike, especially as I paid about £80 for a Britax infant carrier in 2005 and £130 for a Britax First Class around the same time I bought the Maclaren and those car seats are still around that price today Xmas Hmm

The 2nd gen Maclaren quest was suitable from birth too - we got ours in c. 2013 and it said it then.

Yes, I meant from 2006 to now. I loved that old pram (gorgeous red hood, black seat with red and white circles on it) but DS poked a hole in the roof window and it ended up at my parents house getting trashed by all the grandchildren! So I bought the Techno XT but swapped it for a Quest when I had my third child in 2012. That one was suitable from birth, I think 2012 was the year they changed them.

That's one thing I miss - the roof window in the hood! It was so much easier to look through and see your child, even with the seat upright. On the new ones with the window at the back the only view you get when the seat is upright is one of the shopping basket!
