Confusion over 'base pack' SilverCross Wayfarer

Hi all,

We're in the process of choosing our pushchair and we think we have finally (heard that many times the past week or so) on which model to go for.

We think we want to go for the SilverCross Wayfarer but we are a bit confused on the pricing.

It is advertised as 'base pack' £424.99 and then saying to add a hood and apron colour on top for £124.99.

Does anyone know if the base pack is all we need if we're only looking at getting it in black? Or do we HAVE to pay an extra £125 on top for the hood/apron??

Also, then having to add £130 on the car seat... it is becoming essentially a very expensive purchase... I know it is already, but still a bit ridiculous if you must pay an extra £125 for colour of hood and apron if you only want it in black anyway?

Could someone please give us some advice or confirm what actually comes with the £424.99 price tag?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lou

Yes you'd need to pay for the black hood and apron.

You will need to get the hood and apron as well. Sorry, doesn't matter which colour you want.

It should say on the retailers website what is included in the base pack. Normally it'd be a frame, seat unit and carrycot.

Wouldn't touch a wayfarer with a bargepole the wheels are terrible on them the pioneer is much better

There are always loads of barely used wayfarers being advertised on my local Facebook selling groups. Can only assume they're not very good to use.

Just to say I have the wayfarer and I love it! DD is coming up to 1yo at start of May so I've used it nearly every day for a year, with either carry cot, car seat or pushchair unit. Have never had a problem with the wheels or any other part of it. I have the black hood and apron.

Yes you have to buy the hood and apron separately. Unless you don't want a hood and apron. I would suggest you'd be likely to want a hood though. I could have done without the apron but they come in a package. I have the wayfarer. I wouldn't get it again. The wheels are AWFUL. The rest of it is absolutely lovely though and DS definitely highly prefers it to the BJCMGT we have. I would swap the wayfarer for a pioneer if I could.

Arrrghh don't get a Wayfarer! The handling is AWFUL!
However, I now have a Pioneer and the handling is great. It is absolutely worth paying the extra for the Pioneer.

And yes, you have to buy the hood and apron package.

Tiggy did you manage to buy the base separately or did you have to buy the whole seat unit and everything again? I am trying to find the pioneer chassis so I can put my wayfarer seat on it. Hoping to get some more use out of it. Silver cross won't sell it to me separately but said a retailer might.

usually mothercare and john lewis sell chassis separately for many pram systems i don't think they will sell the chassis on its own due to it still been fairly new

is it the same hood for the carrycot and the pushchair? Or do they have one each?
