Bugaboo Donkey

I am considering getting a bugaboo donkey as they allow 2dc next to each other rather than stacked on top of one another.

I am expecting in May and like the fact that it can be used as a single before expanding to a double.

I live in the sticks and have horses but have bought a mothercare xtreme currently half price if anyone is considering for everday home use. I want something to go out and about. Boot space not a problem

What else would you suggest in this configuration please?

Theres only really the Bugaboo Donkey and the Stroll Air my Duo which do parent facing in a side by side double sensibly. If you simply want forward facing there is a bigger choice. The Donkey is the only side by side which goes from single to double though. There are tandems which do this.
I have to say I am not sure that buying a Donkey in preparation for No2 is necessarily sensible though. Yes people do use it as a single. but it feels odd to use with the side basket. The Cameleon and Buffalo are better IMHO as singles, and if you look after them, they could be later sold to buy a Donkey.
The other pushchair which does have an add on as a side by side is the Emmaljunga Monkey - but its really wide in double mode and wont fit through a standard doorway.

Thanks tiggywunkle i also have my nephews more and more regularly so will get used before DC2 as well.

I didnt realise you had to have the side basket on when using it as a single but am gladd you have confirmed my googleing powers have not deserted me!

I have a Donkey and we use it everywhere for walks, off road too. I have 2+ dc though so I use it as both single and double. It's a great stroller but it's expensive, and so are the accessories!

Why not just buy one that suits?

I actually love the side basket. We use it all the time as a single and it's lovely. Hated the Cameleon and got rid of it almost straight away, Donkey is much nicer to push and the side basket is SO useful. It's a good double, but we've definitely reached the pushing limits with a 4.5 year old and a nearly 3 year old. It's almost impossible to push with the pair of them in. I'm dithering about hanging onto ours for DC3, due in September, because I've loved it so much and the extra seat is useful. It is however massive, and I can't get round our local co op with it. Or on the bus if there's another pushchair. Fine on the tube though.
