Double buggy that fits in boot of Beetle?

Hello! I have a 19 month old DS and I'm pregnant with baby no.2 (due in May). My DS will be 22 months old once the new baby arrives and we're thinking about buying a double buggy. However, I'd like to buy one that will fit in the boot of my Beetle, which is quite small. If you drive a Beetle and have found a double buggy that fits in, please let me know! Thank you! Smile

Tiggywunkle - Thanks for the clarification and for all your help! I've just had a look at the website you recommended. It looks like a terrific website - the photos are really great!

The Frog is an old Bugaboo - similar to the current Cameleon. The City Select chassis is not quite as long as that but more square. The Pear is the iCandy Pear but the chassis is relatively large although it's a single size so I am dubious whether it would fit. Go and have a look around Best Buggy because all these are on there plus photos, folded photos and some car boot photos.

Tiggywunkle - What's Frog? Is it a brand? What about Pear? Is that a brand, too? I'd also never heard of the other makes you mentioned, so I'll definitely look into those! Thank you for your suggestions! Smile

essexmumma - Can you put a phil & teds explorer in with the second seat attached? Which wheel do you have to take off?

I have just been looking...there's a photo of a Frog in a boot with room to spare. So the BJCS and Prach should fit easily. The Pear might. As long as you have the width (and the frog rear wheels aren't narrow) then something like the BJCMD should fit or even the TFK Twinner Twist Duo. An air buggy Mini could well fit on its side, or maybe consider something like a Valco runabout with reclining toddler seat?

HypatiaTheProcrastinator - It only fits if I put it in on it's side, i.e. so that only one wheel is on the floor of the boot. There's more depth lower down, but not where the 'upper wheel' is, as it already touches the back window when I close the boot!

Which dimension only just fits? Do you have more depth available for example?

Phil and teds explorer does but minus 1 wheel. However it's such a quick release to do it, it hasn't bothered me at all.

Tiggywunkle - I have a Britax B-Mobile at the mobile, but that only just fits!

I think the Beetle's boot might be too narrow for umbrella folds or a BJCMD. My Mum's Peugeot 207 is too small and the boot looks bigger than a Beetle.

You won't get much smaller than a Baby Jogger City Select, iCandy Peach or Baby Jogger City Mini - different shapes though! What pushchairs (single) do you know fit in at present? Boot dimensions would be useful too.

We have a ford focus and the only ones which fitted compactly were the city mini double and umbrellas. I was given an out n about and use that most of the time but recently bought a maclaren triumph to keep in the boot which works as my dts are now 6 months

If you measure the boot, you can compare to folded dimensions. My guesses for what might fit are Britax B-Dual, Jane Powertwin, iCandy Peach Blossom, Baby Jogger City Select and, if you have time, BabyStyle Oyster Max. Probably all with the rear wheels removed.
