Quooker - question about reservoir refilling/reheating

Can anyone with a Quooker (3l reservoir) tell me how it compares timewise to boiling a kettle if, for example, you've put 1.5- 2l in a pan and then just a minute later want a cuppa or two?

Might sound a daft question but my husband will be very upset if we spend all that money on one and he has to wait longer than he would if we were still using a kettle before making a brew ;)

I can't speak for Qooker, as I don't have one, but my Fohen tap takes approx. 5mins to heat up 3ltrs of water.

My mum was saying just yesterday that of her 4 friends with a Quooker, 3 of them have had no end of problems. So that's enough to stop me thinking about getting one.

If you put 2l in a pan, there will still be 1 litre of boiling water ready for a couple of brews. I rarely use all 3l but if I do, it doesn't take long to heat back up.

I wouldn’t install a quooker, as we have very hard water. We have a Bosch induction hob, on boost setting the water boils really quickly.

I asked because it says on Quooker's website" While the water is flowing out of the tap, fresh water immediately flows into the tank."

Must admit, that line above confused me, because I'm sure I've seen other people say it only fills/reheats when empty.

Im not sure what you mean, I’ve had the same one for 11 years, serviced twice. It’s instant hot water on demand, mine takes about ten minutes to bring back to temperature after I’ve emptied the tank completely but that only happens when I fill a bucket. It’s boiling all the time for drinks. Unless you regularly make cuppas for ten.

I just stayed with a friend who has one and I honestly wouldn't bother because the water just isn't hot enough IMO. It's fine to fill a pan to cook something, but for cups of tea and coffee it wasn't piping hot like you'd get from a kettle and the drinks cooled really quickly.

Are you sure it was a Quooker they had? Because the water is 100 degrees.

The qooker makes great tea. I’m a tea snob and won’t use the boiling tap at work as it doesn’t get to temp.

it does heat back up really quickly after you empty it.

This has been my experience of one. I’d rather just use a cheap kettle!

The Quooker brand specifically does get to boiling, I've tested it, as badly made tea was my worry. Not all boiling water taps are created equal.
I'm not sure how often you're going to need 2 litres of boiling water.....but it's never been an issue for us.

Oh and to say in the reheat situation I would say no longer than a kettle takes to boil.

I’ve never once managed to empty the Quooker tank so it’s a complete non issue for us. I can’t say I’ve ever felt the need for several cups of tea whilst cooking spaghetti though! But it’s great and yes the water is genuinely 100 degrees.

Either it wasn't Quooker brand (have had one for 10 years, serviced as needed, and it's always red hot for this household of fussy tea drinkers). Or it needs servicing. If not serviced when needed, they won't be right
